For Lewis & Clark fans, this is a required stop. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining. The fort itself is quite rundown, but gives a good idea of the conditions the L&C group faced. There are many good examples of tools, weapons, and clothing from that period. Be sure to visit the nearby L&C Interpretive Center before going to the fort. It contains a great timeline of the expedition and many additional exhibits.

Beautiful area rich in Lewis and Clark expedition history. Sculpture of Seemon was amazing

It was closed. So disappointing. Seems they have no one wanting to work!

Purchase tickets at the interpretive center for the tour of the fort. Excellent tour even though the visitor center was closed. Looks like many trails at the adjacent park, too.

I don't know if they allow dogs in the buildings but the trail around the site is pet friendly and includes a dog waste station at the trailhead (to the left of the large dog statue when facing it).
I was just there. It's one of the best historical spots in the state. There is actually a replica fort built that can be toured. And the rangers knowledge was impressive. Skip Fort Clark in this area if trying to save time, it's a field with a plaque. Don't skip Fort Mandan.
It is a reconstruction of the post built by them to winter in. It's very well done.
