I experienced seeing one of the psychiatric assistants spraying and wiping things down with toxic chemicals and then she would keep her gloves on and then touch patients as she was doing vitals, so she would get chemicals onto patients. I also experienced the mistreatment of patients by the staff and I also witnessed certain psych assistants acting like sociopaths. I highly recommend not going here for psychological help. The doctor who was assigned to me diagnosed me with the wrong thing and freaked my family out, he was old, tired and misunderstood everything I told him. Take care of yourself and go to better places! The only good thing about this place was the food. The staff here need to have something called emotional intelligence, empathy and compassion!!!

I had a terrible time at Fairview Riverside Hospital. I was actively trying to off myself on the unit and specifically requested a one on one and they didnβt keep me on one for the majority of my stay! Then when they did put me on one temporarily a few times, they were either unnecessarily strict and punitive or completely hands-off and detached, depending on the unit (I was on two different ones). I feel like this hospital would benefit from some better programming, perhaps the implementation of DBT which is shown to be successful for almost all mental illnesses, and more education around and compassion towards individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder, rather than writing them off as βattention-seeking.β I had a much better experience at Miller Dwan Hospital in Duluth (part of the Essentia Health system) where they actually took the time to get to know me and took my safety extremely seriously, all the while holding me accountable and challenging me in meaningful yet gentle ways. Fairview might want to take note of that, especially when dealing with individuals with BPD and/or complex trauma. We are NOT hopeless mental patients, we just require a little more care, attention, and patience sometimes! And recovery is possible. π

No. Social Media and blueb lights are a distraction
I'm sure they do help you with anything, when I went there for my Depression and PTSD they gave me professional help from a therapist.
Stay away from HCMC for MH issues. They'll let you sleep all day and never ask if you're okay.
