It’s a very pretty hotel, but I HONESTLY don’t think that it’s a bit pricey. The rooms and the hotel itself are pretty clean, and they have such an AMAZING looking area. There are many activities that you can do here and they are located in a great area. If driving a bit to the beach isn’t a problem to you, then you should consider this place. One of the reasons why I will not give this place 5 stars is because of the showers in the rooms. They are great, spacious, and THANK GOD no tubs… BUT, the only problem that I found a bit annoying was how a lot of water would “escape” in between the doors while me and my family showered. We had to ask for extra towels to put on the floor and in front of the door. Another thing was that the outdoor pool didn’t seem to be cleaned in a while. It was such a pretty pool, but I believe that with just a LITTLE more care it would be perfect. They do have life guards on duty, which is good if you have kids. Last but not least: DUCKS! They are everywhere and they are just SO CUTE, seriously, mama duck and her ducklings were stealing the show. Also, before I forget, they do have a restaurant inside and their food is very good. Here you can see the menu attached with the prices. The pizza is good enough for the price!

This is a really nice hotel. The accommodations were clean and updated. The grounds are beautiful and serene. I enjoyed peaceful walks through the garden in the evening. Also the staff and management are very personable and accommodating. I would definitely come back here again next time I’m in the area. Thank you Founder’s Inn for a wonderful stay!

Two stars solely for the grounds. It was very nice and peaceful. However, the hotel needs some updating and the service leaves me wanting more. Let’s start with the halls, it smelled like it had been shampooed with dirty water that remained stagnant. Next up, the only microwaves were on the first floor and they definitely were not cleaned the entire time. Since I was an extended stay, allegedly my room was going to be tended to every fourth day. Needless to say, it wasn’t. I had to call multiple times to get my room serviced or even just the trash taken out. Lastly, I had an issue with my coffee maker that I called about for three days. On the third day I realized myself it was just the surge protector. But, the effort wasn’t even made. We travel quite a bit to Norfolk area and I will not recommend this hotel.

I didn’t want to leave this hotel! Super friendly staff upon arrival. Gorgeous lobby & grounds. Cozy room that felt spacious & clean. Separate buildings really cut down on noise. You felt tucked away in a little private oasis. We had a view of the courtyard from our room. It was great to wake up and see the water from our room. Ducks greeted us as we walked outside! Great all the way around, highly recommend!!

It's approx a 25 minute drive. The highway is right next to the hotel, so it's a simple drive. The Founders Inn was superior to any hotel next to the beach, so the distance was worth it.
Hello! The breakfast is not free, but you can receive a discount on the price if you reserve a bed and breakfast package on our website. We also offer discounts to our hotel guests in our Flowering Almond Spa Sunday - Thursday
Reasonable. You can select things a la carte, or pick the packages. You can generally select what schedule you want. It'll shift things around for you if a certain time is unavailable before confirmation. They also followup with a confirmation email and two text reminders (if you select it). They are very nice. And the spa has a nice setup for singles and couples.
