Sun Rise
Well maintained camp site and cleaned restroom.

We loved this campground. It wasn't too far away from some great spots to explore. There are restrooms throughout the campground so you never have to go far. Picnic tables and fire pits at each campsite as well. Even with a Full Moon in the sky we could see the full milky way with our naked eyes. The sunrise above the mountains was amazing!

Large lots compared to the camp grounds in North Joshua tree. Clean restrooms running water facuets and toilets!! The only downside is you have e to watch out for coyotes. Keep food in car, I got my t bone and marshmellos jacked.

Super clean public restrooms. Same level as well managed restrooms in places like Target I guess? Come here mainly to do star gazing — was impressed.

I was there a week ago. There was hardly anyone there. I arrived at 10 PM and it was still about 85 degrees. I don't know if it would be worth staying there anytime where the heat is unbearable. My friends were there just for the night and left at 7 AM.
Thank you much. We are going exclusively to see the perseids and will be leaving in the morning. Unfortunately we won't have the chance for hikes.
I disagree, I believe you can fit in the dump station. I saw some pretty big rigs use it. There is water to fill with.
There really wasn't any check-in to say, as long as you reserve your campsite online and keep a copy of it with you, as park ranger will probably stop by in morning to verify.
There's a Chevron about 12 miles away on I-10 that carries firewood. From our experience it sells out fast and isn't the best quality.
I have T-Mobile/Sprint and had absolutely no service until I drove in 29 Palms. Not sure about Verizon though, I'm sorry!
There's quite a few spots and aside from stargazers I don't think there will be that many campers. I was there a couple weeks ago at 10 and maybe 6 campers were there. There's so many campgrounds there too.
Yes. There is a picnic area next to group site #3 with covered tables.
Its better to make a reservation. In may 2018 it was full when I was go
No Electric. Has Potable water, Dump station. Toilets main bldg. Generator use allowed 2 hours bfast. 2 hours lunch. 2 hours dinner. Check website nps.gov/jotr. Has after hours check in at entrance to loop. Leave reservation in envelope after selecting site. Fantastic location. Often very busy. Check on line AND call ahead. Other campsites are not close if Cottonwood is full
