I loved it. It has enough space for many people in different activities, in fact the park is big.

very nice sports complex with baseball fields, soccer fields, and a couple of playgrounds for kids. Good fishing for the kids when the upper pond is stocked with trout. Try to go in the early morning before it gets hot and try to avoid late evenings as it gets really windy closer to dusk. One of our favorite parks in North County!

The pond at Barney Schwarz Park is not a swim pool. All Public Pools are treated with Clorine in order to guarantee safety for those who swim. I am a pool owner and I serverly limited who could use my pool during the Covid19 Pandemic. In many communities public pools have been closed for over a year. Hotels and resorts have also closed most of their pools and hot tubs. I am not speaking for the City of Paso Robles or the Parks Department. I speak as a resident of the City.
Are there any single tables or ones with no bbq that are first come first serve?
Check the park website for a schedule of games.
I have caught a lot of trout there Barney Schwartz Park but make sure you have two have a fishing license
Rental is necessary if you plan on having a big party and you want to assure you will have the spot you want. If someone else gets there before you and you have rented the space they HAVE to move. So to assure you will have full use of space another party cannot get there before you and claim it. We would always send someone up early to claim a spot then decorate to kind of hold it perse. But one year someone didn't see the reserved sign and they spent an hour setting up. Next thing we know the party that reserved the spot came to set up right in the middle of our party. We had to move everything and everyone. It was a pain non the less! We had to cram everything and everyone onto and around a single picnic table because everything else was now taken. So play it safe and reserve.
