This place is quite a sight! Very open beach, super sandy, traditional, squish your toes in-kind of sand all over! Beautiful place to spend the day peacefully, whether alone, in a group, like a family outing or with friends. Such an incredibly romantic beach! Well worth the few bucks to experience; you gotta be here because the pictures just don't do it justice! There is an outhouse, not exactly a restroom with a sink.

Very cold water. I did not fully go in it, just my feet. The beach looked fairly clean and not overcrowded. Beautiful view!

Great beach for a walk with our dog anytime of year! Pretty and peaceful!

Lovely little beach area next to the river. Very easy to park and access. Water is chilly, beach is larger rocks and outside bathrooms available if needed

Yes, it is dog friendly. We walk there daily
Both. It's certainly not kind to your feet.
I think so
We did we had it in like bottle holder it was fine and so nice there
I was up there last April, 3 weeks walking dogs while my family returned to Europe. It's a great Beach. Everyone is correct, the gates closed at sunset, but once in a while, and there was still snow when I was up there some days, if you parked at the top where there's a public restroom, there's a path that will take you down to the beach. They were right the access road can get slippery! And whether you're allowed to be on there early in the morning or late at night, no one ever said anyting. I guess as long as you're behaving yourself! Maine is an amazing place, that was my first time there. I hope you get to Sandy Point get to experience it.
When I have checked with town office, they have me go to website and get a permit. As soon as I get home, I will get the information for you. www.burningpermit.com it is free and I have used it for 3 or 4 years at Sandy Point beach
It's technically the Penobscot River. It connects to the Penobscot Bay, then the Atlantic.
