Best river crossing option available on Route 1. Very similar to a bridge I have crossed many times in Toledo, Ohio, just more impressive. If you want to see the less impressive one in Toledo, it is north of town and is the best view of the City of Toledo. Classy and well maintained.

This bridge is fantastic. Ive driven over it many, many times. I remember when it was the structure was first constructed. The bridge was an engineering feat. I haven't gone up in the observatory yet as I hear the views are breathtaking. I will tour it soon as I love the bucksport and coastal Maine area.

Really amazing place to visit! You have to purchase admission to the fort and the bridge at the gate when you drive in. They have an elevator all the way up to the top. If you have trouble with heights I do not recommend going up. The views are amazing and they have plaques with information about the area.

Jack is correct. No posted Max weight. It was built to replace the old Waldo Hancock bridge and save about an hour of trucking one way to Downeast Maine.
