Budget hire on East 79th- 2hrs queue, one staff, no manager. Didn't have the car there after confirmation two days previous. Machine didn't accept perfectly good credit card.Passive aggressive, unapologetic staff. A further 30 mins to collect the car from a different site on the East side. Try Avis on East 64th, better operation.

Never booking Avis again. Wouldn't recommend it unless you want to be scammed. The terms and conditions on the Avis website do not match the contract. The staff provided complete misinformation during pick-up when I signed the contract. I also had a 30% discount for creating an Avis account, but was only given a 10% discount. Upon returning the car, I was charged incorrectly on numerous items on the receipt and the staff was rude and reluctant to help when I inquired about these charges. They attempted to charge me an extra $105 one-way fee... despite the fact that I picked up and returned the car at the same location, on time. They also tried to charge me an upgrade fee during drop-off when I did not, in fact, upgrade the car. The car I received was the car I reserved, at the base rate I paid for. When I asked about the upgrade fee, they tried to convince me that I booked the wrong car online (I have the email confirmation and receipt... same car, no upgrade). Turns out, a staff member had incorrectly logged the car size in their system after I picked it up. Rather than doing basic due diligence (it was extremely obvious that I did not receive an upgrade), they went ahead and charged me for an upgraded car that I did not book nor return. Save yourself the pain and book anything but Avis.

This location is by far the most accommodating and professional of all the Avis locations I have rented from. Their cars clean and free if smoke smell. For the best experience pick up on Mondays and you will be served by the most cordial and helpful counter staff you will ever meet. Management of this location should be commended for making this the best Avis location.

Incredibly disappointed with my car rental. I spent over $400 - $200 a day - on a small, dented car from the 64th East Side NYC location. The USB port did not work properly and the car was old and not well maintained; the maintenance came on almost immediately. I will say that the staff at the location were amazing. Avis is simply gouging customers on prices.

The best thing to do is modify your reservation. Also, keep in mind that rental companies bill in 24 hour increments so if you're returning just a few hours early, there wont be a price difference. And lastly, Avis/Budget/Payless does not have any grace period so be mindful of your return time.
