Some of the rudest people work here, and they don't seem to care about people they "help" over the phone. If you seemingly hate your job that badly, why won't you just quit (instead of having people encounter your NASTY attitudes)????

My experience was well worth the visit. I was greeted by two (2) Sheriff officers who were smiling and very courteous. They couldn't have been anymore polite and helpful. When I got upstairs to the Surrogate's office it was the same scenario as downstairs. Everyone was extremely helpful and polite. The whole experience wasn't anything like I had envisioned. Expecting to be there for hours waiting on line, I was actually there for less than 15 minutes. I wasn't even charged for parking because I wasn't in the building long enough. After years of dealing with various government agencies, the Bergen County Surrogate's Office is the most efficient, well run and respectful facility that I have ever encountered. A special thanks to Joanne Lassoni. Francis (Frank) Gautier

I read the comments of each other actually they are fast. the SURROGATE approves by telephone false documents of false declarations and they do not check do not make the difference by trusting a lawyer TJ LEGG for example who just says to him I am the only heir you pay and that's Ok. conclusion they both approve of an estate concealment

RANDY. This lady must really hate her life....is someone you don't want to speak to. She was nasty, and when I say nasty I mean nasty when she got on the phone. Like, its probably been like 8 years since I've spoken to a person this unhelpful and mean and ugly (communication.) She needs a therapist and I hope that whatever happened in her childhood or current life, does not infect others. In the middle on a pandemic we need people who are helpful to one another....we need the opposite of Randy. Also, the part about her job. She knew nothing. If I worked at Burger King and I can't even tell you what's the price of a cheeseburger, what good am I. She must have lied on her resume because nothing qualifies her for working for a court house, or working with people at all.

Yes, You MUST make an appointment. Appointments will only be made AFTER all paperwork is submitted to the Court and assigned to a Probate Clerk.
You can file letters of administration and list her assets. The Surrogate office can help you.
You will need to petition in Superior Court, "Chancery Division to be removed from office. You should seek the advice of an attorney or research for yourself the documents that need to be prepared by you for submission in a law library.
The wife must first move the title to her name solely. Then she can as the sole owner transfer the car to you as a regular sale.
You should first search the records and ask for a page count. The cost for doing that is ten dollars. You can then send the correct fee to order copies of the probate documents.
You must personally take all of your original documents to the Bergen Surrogates office.
If you not legally married it goes to next of kin like biological child. Go to surrogate court they will help you.
It depends for wife @ children around 300$
Death certificate original. Make sure you have extra copy because they take it. Also social security of the deceased. His approximate assets if under 50k. Also id of the person who will be administrator of his assets. Good luck.
The named Executors in the will appear in the Surrogate's Court. They should bring with them 1. The Original Will 2. The Certified Death Certificate 3. The names and addresses of the next of kin to the deceased, whether or not they are receiving anything under that will 4. the ability to pay the court fees. the is is usually between 100-200 dollars for probating a will and is payable by a check drawn on a NJ bank account or cash. 5. One form of ID (drivers licence or passport are usually the best) 6. knowledge of their social security number
It's hard to estimate the time involved in the probate process. On average for probate of a typical or average estate, I would say a minimum of a year and in some cases, two years.

Hi KW, Firstly, I think you may need an Elder Law Attorney. Andora and Romano in Paramus is excellent. Secondly, you must be appointed the Executrix of your husband's estate...and only the Bergen County Surrogates Court can do that. You should go there asap, even if it means taking some time off of work. In my opinion, the above two (2) tasks should be done, before anything else is done. I hope this helps. Good luck, G.T.
