Death certificate and will

Carole Dengel | Oct 4, 2019

You will need 1. Original will 2, certified death certificate 3. Names and address of all of your husbands children whether or not they are receiving anything under the will. If any of your husband's children have died, the information about the grandchildren who are children of the predeceased children. 3. One form of ID for you 4. Payment in the form of a check drawn on a nj bank or cash , the fees are usually about 100 to 200 dollars. 5. Your social security number. The letters you need to transfer the car are usually mailed to you 5 to seven business days after all paperwork with the court is complete. The court has to keep the original will and death certificate. They do send you a copy with your letters of testamentary.

Hi KW, I agree w DK. Additionally I suggest you bring your husbands car(s) registration(s), and your Drivers License, as proof of your I.D. The Automobile Title for each car might be helpful too. The Bergen County Surrogates Court (very nice people work there) will issue you Letters Testamentary; you may need multiple copies to retitle his cars and accounts into your name. I hope this helps.
