I have a chronic illness so an emergency room is basically a second home and it was incredibly refreshing so have such caring and thoughtful doctors and nurses ❤️ thank you!

Wow. Not one positive thing to say about this location. I saw Dr. Kaus. Let’s start with the completely inaccurate information on my clinical note stating I did not have important symptoms that I definitely DID have and advised him of, (at least 70% of what he said I "denied" was not true), then saying my BP was 40 points under what it actually was, (it was 157/97 not 118/82), then claiming multiple “normal findings” on a physical exam which was never done in that capacity because it would’ve required a stethoscope. Only my belly was palpated for a physical exam. It seems like an attempt was made to make my case seem less severe to support the lack of clinical action taken. At the very least, no attention to detail was made to ensure I had appropriate care. To me, this is bordering on malpractice, and I will not take this lightly. Then there is the fact that I went because my pain was FAR worse that day, and I wanted it to be investigated. He just said my pain was the same as before and made no attempt to call and get an ultrasound or any other imaging. Literally everyone I talked to there was rude, cold and basically worthless. I expect more from St. Luke’s. I will add here, that I have multiple doctors in the St. Luke's system that are wonderful, and I trust them completely. My experience at the Roeland Park Community Hospital has always been great as well. This particular location though was absolutely atrocious, and he'd better hope that things don't go South for me in the near future regarding this pain.

I went in around 6 am with abdominal pain, had a nurse named Abby that was extremely rude and disrespectful. I told the doctor about the situation and requested another nurse. The other staff were extremely nice and helpful other then Abby. Because of this experience I will no longer go to this hospital and I will leave my review on google review so other can know about this experience.

I had a very odd and disappointing experience at this location today. I was recently diagnosed with a rare endocrine disease and needed labs and scans done on a Sunday that could not wait for Monday. I live on the east coast and was visiting my family for the holidays, but I had some unexpected issues needing immediate care. After calling dozens of places, the St. Luke’s urgent care at Mission Farms suggested I go to this Community Hospital location. I called ahead on Saturday to this community hospital location to explain my situation, and they agreed that I was unlikely to get the care I needed outside of an ER. They agreed that while I did not have a life or death emergency, I also had no other options for getting the tests that could not wait another day. Upon entering, I once again immediately explained to the receptionist that while I was not in a life or death situation, I did have a need for labs/scans on a Sunday, that I had exhausted all other options before coming to this location, and that the Mission Farms location sent me. I also reiterated I’d wait for however long needed. The receptionist was very kind and understood the urgency, and brought out a radiologist or radiologist tech, who the receptionist said would be more well-versed here. I tried explaining my situation to the doctor or tech. The receptionist also tried to explain the urgency here. Unfortunately the radiologist/tech did not seem familiar with my condition (many providers are not, I’m used to having to educate new providers) but she quickly cut me off and told me I was out of luck here. I tried to explain multiple times why I needed care, but I was not given the opportunity to see a physician. She is not the first healthcare provider to tell me “we can’t help you” but she was the first to say so much in such a curt and unkind way. I’m not sure why a radiologist or radiologist tech is running triage at an ER, or why I wasn’t given the chance to explain my situation to the doctor at the clinic as my specialist in NYC was on standby to speak to the ER doctor about the urgency for the tests I needed. The radiologist/radiologist tech running triage not being familiar with my rare condition does not make it not real. My regular doctor is always willing to speak to new doctors, and I even have a summary document outlining my condition, my labs, and all the medication I’m taking to make it easier for new providers. Had I been permitted to see the ER doctor, I imagine my doctor would’ve been able to explain both my condition and the urgency of these tests to the ER doctor, even if he/she was unfamiliar. Unfortunately, I wasn’t even given that chance. Luckily I was able to work with my doctor on a Plan B to get the care I needed. While I’m sure this community hospital is just fine for simple stitches or strep throat, I would not recommend this location for anyone needing more complex care or anyone with a medical condition, especially given the radiologist/tech making the triage decisions seems neither knowledgeable nor compassionate.
