Great place to check out! We enjoyed our time walking throughout the park.
SEXY FIBROMOM
My coworkers and I shared this experience together for our PD Day and it was absolutely amazing!! The scenery was beautiful and peaceful. I spent 45 minutes just taking in all the nature and watching the Butterflies. Lunch was served on the beach ⛱️

I love this park! Everytime you think you've seen what it has to offer, you discover something new.

Its best to go to harkness park to grill for cookouts or party's
I went there on Sunday and the park was a bit packed. A lot of people were having their picnics and having a lot of fun. Lovely day💕👍
I believe so, there were pleanty of people there with grills.
Yes they do. They have certain restrictions on the beach due to an endangered bird's nesting. But other than that, they are allowed.
The facility to the immediate east of Harkness is designated as a handicapped beach.
There is more than enough room, however it is first come first serve. So show up early to claim yours.
No camping area. If you want to camp there is a nice campground near Rocky Neck. U can also camp there
The buildings are not open to the public. Although the outdoor patio can be reserve for private events.
If CT resident it is free because it's a state park and there is a new program this year for free enterance fees (:
They are starting to brake ground now you can see there little heads now
Cost to just rent the mansion is around $7,000. That does not include your caterer which must be on the approved list. Go to: Eolia The Mansion at Harkness Memorial State Park. Will bring you to a ct.gov site. Has listing of caterers. How to contact them should be somewhere on that site. Keep in mind it is not air conditioned and you have to dance outside under the attached tent. The Branford House Mansion on the grounds of UCONN at Avery Point is a better value. Was $5,000 to rent and it is air conditioned. You can dance inside! Sets up beautifully for a wedding...inside, or out. Branford House has wedding coordinators on site and are great to work with.
No fee for CT licence plates
Yes there are, and they are open now, was there just last Friday. Plus, there are the portable ones as well.
No, the last time I was there the bbqs were taped off w trash bags
Stop with fake questioms
I'm not sure. I was able to get in at 7am
Usually no, but, I'd call them to verify. .
There is no lifeguards at Harkness so the park rangers will tell you to get out of the water if you are swimming. But you can go fishing and crabbing and wear swimsuits just not be in water to a certain level I believe.
There are no longer entrance fees for CT state residents. The State of CT changed it last year and a fee comes out of car registrations so that people can enjoy most state parks. I believe you still have to pay for Gillettes Castle, Dinosaur State Park and one other. The rest are free for residents of CT. You can see more information about state parks on the DEEP website.
That is not correct, park is for all. However, next door is a location for handicap, exclusively.
Give them a call
Signs posted say there's no swimming allowed. I saw park personnel asking some people who were in the water to come out. There's no lifeguard on the beach.
There are no lifeguards at harkness memorial state park
NO Camping at harkness. But u can camp at Rocky Neck State Park. Google Rocky Neck State Park camp grounds
There is no swimming at Harkness Memorial Park but they do allow swimming at Camp Harkness next door for people with disabilities with a special permit. I believe that is what Jessie Fusco was referring to.
Yes, however dogs are not permitted on beaches at certain times. Signs are posted indicating the times.
Yes I use a cane and I was able to get around the entire park easily. Wheel chair, scooter ect will work also
The gardens are generally open to the public so you can meet your photographer there to take photos. You might have to wait sometimes for other people to leave an area you want. I actually did my engagement photos there! It was great and there is so much variety in backgrounds. I really recommend the japanese maple near the pet cemetery. (Wierd I know) but it has great color and filters the light really nicely.
End of July in August they're in full bloom The Gardener's used to cut the bushes into clouds shapes there's also a Pet Sematary under the Japanese maple tree
No, alcohol is not permitted
No bike trails, but they do have paved and gravel road areas where you might ride a bike. Paved loop in front of mansion area is perfect for young children learning to ride a bike.
Yes, but there is a sign that says dogs aren't allowed on the beach
Dogs are allowed as long as they are on leashes. Dogs are not allowed on the.beach at all, nor anywhere near where the birds nest.
