Horrible my bill for a 1 bedroom went from $50 to $70 a month to all of a sudden $200 even tho all my appliances have been the same trying to find a new electric company.

What can I say? The worst electric company ever. Charged me double two months start and received a bill for triple the amount I’m used to paying the past year. Email them, and they say they are correct 100% even though I have proof I wasn’t using more energy. They don’t care about that. They only believe their faulty equipment is correct. Been paying as static as possible 65-70 a month. Get a bill for 222 in one month?? What?! That looks right to these incompetent people? They are basically gaslighting me telling me I am using that much energy and I should go with their equal payment plan for $79. I’ve only had a bill of $70 tops over the year. I absolutely use more energy in the winter, but these people had the nerve to tell me summer is more. I’ve never had an electric company think this. I’ve dealt with 2 other electric companies in central nj. Each bill was always higher in the winter. Yet, they are trying to manipulate my mindset to think AC bill is definitely more use than 30-40 degree average February’s. The people are horrible emailing. Very condescending. Try calling, “hour to hour and a half wait”. Ask in an email if they could call me since there is some real discount through email communication, they tell me “if you still have issues, you can call”. Really? After asking if they could call at their convenience. Pretty sure their job is to continue this back and forth. They literally copy and pasted one of their responses as if i didn’t read and acknowledge their first email. I would say don’t use this company, but you know, energy companies and their “legal” monopoly in areas. It’s like “pay what we tell you or you get no power”. It’s literally legal extortion. “We’re correct and won’t bother to check our equipment because we don’t have to. Pay us” Oh and the random outages caused by them with literally 0 warning turning the day. News flash, though pre-covid, people are less likely home at 2 pm, many people are still working from home. Horrible customer service, horrible updates, and horrible explanations for erroneous charges they tell me is right even for electric company standards. I know these people aren’t going to be in trouble for this since they are trained to tell the customer nothing is wrong and try to get them on the equal payment plan so they are paying more every month instead of 1. Definitely going to do some research into alternatives from this. I don’t need this nonsense.

My power has been out for 3 days after a tropical storm. While other companies communicate with their customers JCP&L remain silent. We have two old English bulldogs that can die in this heat. It wasn’t a hurricane it was a tropical storm yet they are saying we can expect power back by August 11th.
