As others have said, park at Cone Manor. 2.5 mile hike to the tower. A beautiful workout. There was a swarm of flies at the top of the tower to congratulate me.

Nice trail, we started later in the day so we missed most of the crowds. This is a busy trail and because it is all gravel it make it easy for everyone. First we passed some pastures with cows then a shaded tree section. Then came the cemetery and huge fields of blooms flowers. The final section is steep, shaded and has several switchbacks before finally coming to a fire tower. The tower is about 4 stories with long range views of Grandfather mountain and much more! Take a lunch enjoy the lookouts on the way back down and keep an eye out for the wildlife.

Great hike. Beautifully maintained wide road to the top. Add others have said, think carefully about taking impulsive humans or dogs up there tower. Tower is an easy climb.

It’s a state park
Park at Moses H. Cone Manor house off the blue ridge parkway. Walk towards the bathrooms/ barn and under the parkway. After you go under the parkway through the tunnel don't turn left. Instead, keep going straight. There are signs and a map near the manor house if you still need help.
