Beautiful park! Hidden gem in Charleston. Must see sunrises.

Nice little park for a picnic or taking the dog for a walk. Beach access and great views of the harbor!

Yes, but the park just closed this week for the next 3 months while they repair damage from hurricanes.
Its probably better to wade about waist high to cool off if your sunning. Lots of rocks and shells. Never seen anyone out swimming only peoples dogs.
No camping. Park is open dawn to dusk but sliding gate to parking lot closes at 8:30 pm. For cars still inside at that time the gate automatically opens when the car pulls close to the gate. Park is patrolled by Charleston City Police.
Gate closes at 8:30PM. No entry. Cars left in lot leave by approaching gate, which opens and closes automatically. I live stone's throw from MPD Park. There may be an hours sign there. I will check next time. Latest I have been there is 10 PM. Virtually always some cars parked outside the fence. I have never seen any enforcement by any of several patrol cars, but be certain your tires are not touching pavement when parked outside fence.
Free to fish, but you should always have a saltwater fishing license I believe a 14 day saltwater license has increased to 15 dollars.
The public beach is pretty small but well defined from private property. If you're into a 5 or 10 minute stroll from one end of the beach to the other then it's the place for you.
Sea Glass. If you can find them. They are definitely keepsakes. They come in lots of colors.
The pier at the end of the point and walk path is open for public use. No signs that say no trespassing or no fishing.
In a few weeks. At least by end of Oct.
Yes there is a floating dock and a beach side to this park. I think the park is still closed for repair, but i could be wrong about the closing. It was closed for construction for 3 months starting back in june. The only down side is parking and its quite a walk with a kayak. The beach side is closer but if its dead low tide its all pluff mud
There is no telling. The city said 3 months originally but when they closed the park down a few years ago for the new dock they said 6 months and it took 3 years. So hopfully soon i miss going to beach there

Yes you can fish there from sun up to sun down. Buy raw shrimp (not raw frozen) and cut it into pieces for best results. They have a fishing pier there or you can fish straight off the " beach".
