This is an ongoing ever improving access to the upper Ashley River. There's a covered area in which to sit and the parking lot is pretty good size. The road leading into the landing becomes part of the parking but it's not too far to walk. They say they're going to do some improvement with some property right next to the SD landing. I hope they do it.

I've caught a lot about 15 years ago with a chicken leg tied to a string. Don't know about now.
I went this morning and everything looked to be reseeded. Still got kicked out tho. Any info on when it will reopen is much appreciated.
Fresh water
Yes there are. They won't bother you though so long as you leave them alone. I kayak here regularly and haven't ever seen any at the boat ramp but I've seen many shortly up stream and down from the boat launch.
Yes....can go to Super Walmart on Dorchester Rd...just about 1/2 mile away....if your state resident...10.00 for fresh and 10.00 for saltwater license....total of 20.00 for the year.
It's brackish so you will catch both salt and fresh water species, salt water fish mostly at high tide and fresh water at low tide. It's tidal so you can Google the tide chart for the area and know ahead of time what the tide is doing. I've seen some really big cats come out of there using live bait.
I've caught a lot of bass around the mouth of that Creek running up to Lake Ashborough on wacky worms.
