Fripp Island Golf & Beach Resort

This one star is a reflection of the Manger of the Kids Camp. We called a week prior to sign our children up for camp. They assured us no need to register early- come in Saturday when you arrive. We stopped by Saturday. A note was posted “closed due to precautions” (aka in the world of Covid… Covid). Ok- no problem. We come again Sunday, same sign- no is there. Ok- no problem. There is a phone number to call. We call the phone number and leave a message. Camp starts Monday. We arrive at the camp in hopes it may be open. And it is! Wonderful- right! My kids are so excited! We go to register the kids- and the manager share that you must register 1 day in advance for camp. We shared that we tried to register but the building was closed. She responded, “you could have called.” We shared that we did- left a message and no one returned our call. She then becomes a broken record of .. “you have to register 1 day in advance.” To when I asked, “ Just curious- what is the reason for the 1 day registration rule?” She responds with “we have to call in lunches.” I offered to even make my kids lunches. She still refused. We didn’t push the issue- just took the rule as absolute silly and registered the kids for camp the following day. The kids attend camp the following day. They enjoy it! Great camp. Never saw the manager again. However- I ask the kids “what did you all have for lunch”…… guess what they ate everyday? Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches You need a day to call in Pb and J I debated on sharing this experience- but it’s just ridiculous, uncalled for and just unkind. If your business fails to meet requirements for your rules- then you shouldn’t be allowed to enforce them. Especially when you work where people are mostly on vacation.

My husband and i stayed here for a week on vacation with our 5 teenagers. Beautiful location and views but not much to do, unless you like golf or racquet ball. The kids enjoyed riding golf carts around (the mode of transportation once you've parked your car). They have a "teen night" and other activities but it's geared more towards tweens. You may have beach or you may not, depends on if the tide is in or out. If the tide is in, you may have to use another beach access point. You have to have an amenity card to use the pools, visit the stores, or eat at restaurants on fripp. You also have to have it to rent golf carts or boat rides on the island. They will literally decline you wanting to spend money at their business. The amenity card doesn't get you anything else. We enjoy shopping for souvenirs, but was disappointed at the Fripp Ship (logo store) and the little shop as you come pass the gate. There isn't a Wings or similar store within a hundred miles of Fripp. The kids were somewhat bored. The Hunting Island lighthouse is nearby, but closed on Monday and Tuesdays! Beaufort is close by, but still wasn't very exciting for the kiddos. It was our 1st visit to Fripp (last minute vacation) so we made the best out of it and enjoyed ourselves. Will I book there again? Probably not. However, if you enjoy golfing and not going with teenagers, this may be the place for you!

We love Fripp and have visited many times. Will definitely return, but doubt we will use Fripp Island Resort Rentals again. The beach, location, and community are 5 stars. Pools and amenities are 4 stars. Fripp Island Resort Rentals 1 star. Unit at 25 Davis Love Drive had roaches (beyond what you typically expect), issues with cleanliness on arrival, leaky toilet, overflowing garbage outside, broken or worn out furnishings, and mildew in the freezer/refrigerator that went completely unresolved all week. The house is literally rotting and in need of repair. Pics on website are from YEARS ago. Reviews are not posted on the FIR site, so adding it here.

We had the best family experience at Fripp Island Resort! The recreation staff was so friendly. Cassady and Caroline were amazing. The kids loved the animals at the nature center. They had an unique and memorable pirate ship escape room, perfect for families!
