The campground sites are tight. You get to know your neighbors. The entire park is fantastic. Lots of trails to walk, bike, great dog park and best of all , centrally located to all the Charleston sites. If you don't want to drive, they do offer a shuttle service. We really enjoyed our time here.

The cabins are excellent and the view fantastic. If you're going to visit and stay in Charleston for any length of time a wonderful place to stay. Fully equipped

Clean showers and restrooms. Great place for the family. Walking trails, playgrounds and rock climbing wall
To won't be let down one of the most expensive place but the nicest.....tent camping is allowed and you can anywhere you want we had a 14 man tent right beside bathrooms nice.
You can rent fairly long term but after you reach your limit you have to move. Of course all reservations are based on availability. I've been a couple of times and had to stay in the overflow area. That's really not a bab option if they're booked up, as long as you're set up for dry camping.

Don't know how much tent sites are but the RV sites with full hook up were around $53 per night. We felt it was very reasonable for such a nice campground.

Its on the website, but there are different tent site options. Some have water and electric, and then there are primitive sites which are on the other side of the campground.
How much is it for a campsite at the James island county park for an RV

Depends on utilities. Most are between $50 and $70 per night. Well worth it...this is an awesome location!! 20 minutes to downtown and 20 to Folly Beach..
I stayed there for the weekend and I didn't get bit. But I went out fishing and to the beach during the day and at night went to Charleston for dinner indoors. Stay out of the thick wooded areas in the evenings and hang out where there's a breeze. Bug spray if you're worried 😉
The campsites are not on the beach. They are within the county park. My wife and camped in a 32' camper and had room for a crew cab pick up with room to spare. Sites are kind of close together but trees and shrubs provide some privacy. Only 15 minutes from Folly Beach and about the same to downtown Charleston. We would return.
We will be stayin there soon with a fifth wheel. What would be the best route getting to the park coming from Hilton Head Island,SC. Heard several comments about low hanging trees getting there. Just want to know the best route.

I don't know the best route but yes there are some low hanging trees when you get closer to the campground. You should be fine though as there are a lot of campers that come through there.
Here is a link to the map provided on the park's website: (you'll have to highlight, copy and paste the link into your browser)

You are about 15 minutes from the ocean by vehicle does not take long to get to the ocean really nice place I really do recommended had really good experience at this place really nice people good hospitality is this really nice I highly recommended you'd only about 15 minutes away by car to the ocean very simple to get there
Almost all sites have water, sewer, and electricity. Need to call for prices. They also pit out Christmas lights and are one of the top 10 in the world.
You are about 15 to 20 minutes from the beach it is a really nice Campground really nice place and seem to be really nice people that runs the campground and I would recommend it to anyone a good place to go and relax and enjoy yourself
