I went here after speaking with someone about the possibility of bringing the two dogs I found abandoned. I tried going inside the area to drop dogs off but it was locked and they also had a notice of them being full. I’m not sure where the communication was lost but I wish I would’ve known before driving over an hour to get to the shelter! I will say it was nice of them to have a poster of other shelters that could be accepting of dogs. However, they were all full when I called them—which isn’t anyone’s fault particularly. I still appreciate this place a lot seeing as I rescued my first fur baby here, I just wish communication was better.

Cost of stray kitten exam
Look for same good care of a pitbull dog he's old 8 years old. We can have any more
When I adopted my dog, all I saw were dogs and cats. However that does not mean they don't have them somewhere. I would just give them a call to find out if they have other animals available.
They give shots to all the pets they already have in the shelter, but not for any other pets like a veterinarian. Petstopclinic.com gives affordable shots, though. You might be able to find something nearby.
Call the place where you expect to adopt the dog and ask them if they can arrange it.
Email a picture and the information of where you found it to the shelter. Also post it on pet lost and found sites.
If you can take it there.
They don't euthanize for space, if that is what you are asking. It is for extreme cases of medical conditions, if an animal has reached a point of which it cannot be saved.
Go to a vet or something
We do have a foster program. Ask for Chandler. He will give you the application and explain the process.
Does the shelter give the shots and spay/neutering if I adopt a pet from the shelter?
If you mean senior people, I believe there is a discount available for you. If you are talking about senior dogs, then I believe that they are free.
As long as they haven't been given to another family, yes! Go get your cats!
Do you have puppies that remain small
First, not all pit bulls are dangerous. Second, you can call to complain, but will not come just because he thinks a certain race is dangerous.
Where u live and ahw is well traine on the house?
No, the only way they are listed on the website is it has to be in the care of the shelter.
Yes it sure is
I'm so sorry to hear that Pat, yes you can surrender him to the shelter.
Bree Denise, please do the humane thing and hold him while he is euthanized. No one is going to adopt a dog that pees all over the house. U will take him to the shelter where he will be stressed and when they run out of room they will kill him all alone. So take this sweet animal you have supposedly loved all of these years and talk to him, let him smell you as he goes to sleep for the very last time. The kindest thing u can die for him. It might cost $50. U will never regret it. Please I beg you.
Yes call first but I have not known for them to turn animals away. They truly try to help you.
How old are they? Maybe give them more time....we now have 5 rescues and theu all have their personalities....some are slower at accepting a new dog
I think they take donation for things like that. Not sure though.
Yes we are closed on Labor Day.
If they have any available. You have to check early and often, though because rescues will take the little ones
Something to note: Majority of animals are released on days after they are intaked and viewable at the shelter and/or online. In which case they are 'first come first adopt' based on a in person queue sign up system on their adoptable date. Sometimes people will line up hours (possibly overnight) before actual opening hours to have priority for certain high desired pets to be. Visit and ask about this for more details if it applies to you. We just adopted a small dog, who wasn't even our first preferred pet of choice, on Tuesday 6/21. I was outside in line at ~730am and there were 10 people ahead of me.
They need to know if the adoptee is going to a good home. There are people out there who will adopt dogs and cats for nefarious purposes such as dog fighting.
If you go in its not only personal it shows your dedication to want to volunteer 😉
Leave them...Momma probably went to forage for food...
I believe you can also contact them and they will come cath the cat
Call the animal shelter and they may be able to talk to your neighbor
Yes they do I would call first to let them know your coming and one of the guys will come out to help you bring the items in.
It is open every day
Yes they do, must be in a trap, drop off is Monday through Thursday 7to 11 am
I believe the shelter will take it and they will send an animal control officer if needed
I once donated a rabbit to Yellow River game ranch on hwy. 78. Great place to visit and see all the different kinds of animals.
You have to call Gwinnett Animal Control for that information.
Jess, Take him to the Gwinnett County sheltern on Winder Rd. I got my dog there and she was well cared for before I adopted her. Also, I believe that they are a no kill shelter also.
Yes also got microchip and vaccines.too young for rabies but it's also included. They screen all the applicants very nice facility. Very friendly staff that accommodate all the animals there they have good hearts. I pray your able to find the right home or place for your diamond..
I'm so sorry for what you are going through. I think you may need to call the shelter and ask them how to surrender your dogs. My heart just breaks at the thought of them living in the shelter. The staff can probably help direct you somewhere else where they can use their services.
I paid $45 for my puppy. That included it's first round of shots, spay/neuter, and microchip. Not sure if it was a promotion at the time, but I'd recommend checking their website to see their current pricing.
If you don't want to wait, the dog deserves better. The best staff and the process guarantees a loving home for a best friend.
No they are spayed or neutered before you can adopt them.
Yes
Check their website, they have a link to volunteer there.
If you commit to training and make sure the dog gets plenty of exercise and love then absolutely. Pit bulls were known as nanny dogs for YEARS because of their protective nature. That being said, a young pit bull will have a lot of energy and need a lot of attention and they are smart enough to remember mistreatment so if you cannot provide the appropriate attention or you tend to yell or get aggressive when disciplinining then a pit bull is absolutely NOT the dog for you.
They post photos of the cats on their website.
They are very nice they will take him immediately but if you get a dog next time make sure is a hypoallergenic a type of poodle that won't shed the hair p.s. I hope the dog finds a great family to love him
He is a bit excited or hyperactive. He must be young or energetic. Check out online how to calm down your dog.
The paperwork I received when I adopted from there had the date of the next vaccine needed and a list of Vets in the area. I thing the GSPCA offers low cost vaccines too.
All available pets can be viewed on their website. It is updated regularly.
Go to their website and click on "Available Pets". They update it daily.
Yes. I got there two hours early, waited in line outside, and didn't manage to get a puppy. The three people in front of me got them.
Blue color codes usually mean an animal has a chance of heartworm. Orange might be rescue animals.
We were told to go find a dog and interact with it. They have a hold for the owners to come and claim the dog if it was picked up. As long as no one has a hold on the dog already then you can adopt it. If it's a hold then when the dog is free for adoption then it's first come basis.
Absolutely! Bring your lab here and they will definitely find someone who will want him
Yes or call company Pup & Cat Co they will place cat in foster home loving environment until cat is adopted.
I don't think so just take it back
Unknown.
Join their fb page. They have events sometimes for free adoptions or gift a few items in exchange of adoption fees they also have updates ect.
You should have to call them for that one
Call or visit the Humane Society website. They will likely be able to send you to a rescue shelter first. Giving up a dog is called an owner surrender. These dogs are usually put down first, before stray or found animals, if given to a kill shelter. Keep that in mind when looking for a place. If your dog is purebred, check with the breed associations to see if they have a rescue program.
The shelter adopts out cats and dogs
They told me they have some people that will get there at 7am to adopt a puppy. It's very hard to find one there but keep trying and good luck
I would recommend that you have them call them about that.
Look for a rescue group before you bring them here just a suggestion
Unsure but you can go to Planned pethood of Georgia
There are several places you can list them and have the power to choose the potential new family. RescueMe and Petfinder are great ways to rehome them. The Gwinnett Shelter is not a bad option, its busy all the time and they would get placed very fast, espec knowing their breed mix & make up. The screening process is not really anything more than paperwork, have I D and don't make going there a habit. But it does get the dogs, cats & other animals placed in new homes a lot faster and minimal need to do the bad stuff.(can't go there) Hope this helps. Good luck.
Thank you.it has been taken care of.yes it was a hard decision.but he is not in pain anymore.
You can surrender it, but keep in mind it is now considered an "owner surrender" and there is a fee. If space is needed due to capacity, owner surrenders are the first to be euthanized as this is NOT a " no-kill" shelter. Your best bet is to find a rescue group or someone else to take it.
You can use Helping Lost Pets.com as well
Sorry about your issues with the neighbor, but regardless of the what the sayers put out there he wouldn't be put to sleep. He would be put on the web site for adoption. You can try Spot Society.com and look for a rescue group to take him. Wishing you and your pet the best.
I think so till the end of the month. But I believe Saturdays are only $4.
If you live in Gwinnett county the adoption fees are: 45.00 for dogs, 30.00 for cats/kittens or 2 for 20.00. If your live outside of the county it is 65.00 for dogs and 50 for cats or 2 for 40. Senior citizens 55+ & Veterans 22.00 for dogs & 15.00 for cats or 2 for 10. Seniors out of the county it is 32.00 for dogs and 25 for cats /kittens or 2 for 20.
The first question is how long has she been taking care of them? And they only pick up strays.
Actually Society of Humane Friends give the shots. The shelter provides them an area in which to work in once a month. They were there on June 2nd. You can check their facebook page for more information.
You can call them out to your house
Animal control is who picks up animals. You can drop them off during their intake hours
You'd have to contact them directly. It should not be a problem.
You can't board them as that is not what they do, but you can relinquish the guinea pigs and they will adopt them out. There was a fee to surrender animals previously but call and find out on Monday
Try local Vets for a part time job.
You must go to www.gwinnettcounty.com and fill out a owner surrender form and submit it. The form is found on the animal shelter website. They take animals according to space. They are not put down, but put on the website for adoption and if not adopted they can be pulled by a rescue group.
Where in Gwinnett, really large County would need more specifics for anybody to have any idea
Check the County Website.
Yes, you can on tomorrow at 11:00 am @ the intake door
US Highway 29 / Ga Hwy 8. Lawrenceville
Gwinnett animals shelter
Why did they say they were feeding it
I was going to adopt magnum the bulldog i talked to the people before i went i told them who i was when i got there the guy there brought magnum out to let us bond but the whole time was trying to bond he was playing with magnum and then ater he said he would go get the paperwork for me i walked to the front and he then decided to tell me i could not adopt him but i lived 2 hours away and he couldn't check on him that far away but its ok i went to Halls county shelter and adopt me a beautiful female red nose
I think they update it pretty reguraly. My advice is to keep going up there until you find what she's looking for. Puppies and small dogs don't last long.. And also you can't place a hold on any animal over the phone only in person. Best of luck!
I don't mean to pick up. I mean where to leave info and photo in case there are owners searching.
Yes there is just go to gwinnettanimalshelter.com
I'm sorry I don't know. Call the shelter tomorrow.
we will be running a valentine special. that is correct
I've seen the volunteers mostly just cleaning up after the pets and MAYBE taking some out for the potential adopters to meet if an employee is busy, but I'd recommend looking it up on their website or calling them to see.
How old are you? I believe if you are working age which is 14 they could use your services. You go girl
This is a shelter you can adopt a pet there
Take it to the shelter
They are not a no-kill shelter but they only put down cases where if the animal is very injured or extremely aggressive.otherwise they put them up for adoption and they cooperate fully with area rescue groups.
You can also go to their website to see some, not all, of the animals available for adoption.
No.
The problem is that there are stray cats in the woods behind us. My cat cannot smell himself around our house, so he Mark's his territory. The AC knows they're back there but have not been successful at catching them.
If they receive it, find out the hours that you can leave it, they have their own hours to receive animals this on the website.
They offer reduced fees certain times of the year. I adopted my kitten there. They offered 2 for $20 back in the summer.
As far as I know they only receive cats and dogs. You can try the Atlanta Audubon Society. They do bird rescue.
Go to Animal shelter 884 Winder Hwy, Lawrenceville, GA 30045
There's an online application that must be filled out.
You have to visit the shelter and they allow you to visit with the pet first. If you like one you have to submit an application, you have to wait a few days then you can bring the animal home. They have mostly older dogs than puppies. You have to keep checking if you don't find what you're looking for on the day you visit. Also they don't train dogs. You would have to hire a trainer or take the pet to a Pet smart, they offer training sessions for dogs.
No any pet you have in your possession must be surrendered by the owner. Enforcement if it is known to harm others may be picked up but you would have to contact them.
You sign in and just walk through. They have individual dogs in each room.
Suggest you call before. If they are full, they may offer other places you can surrender the dog to.
I would keep it at home feed it and then take it to the shelter when they open
Check their adoption website. They update daily and its the best way to see all their animals
Yes its a seasonal thing they have a lot durring mating season
They are closed on Sundays. don't open until tomorrow at 8:30. No drop off.
Not sure, but you should be able to call them and ask.
No
Take her to a vet to scan her to see if she has a chip.
Call the shelter and report it as a stray and they should pick him up.
No they don't do it here in Gwinnett but there are plenty of places that you can take the deer 4 evaluation to see if it can survive and then hopeful rerelease. I would just check the web and look under animal rescue near me or something like that... if you have anymore questions about that especially please post it back up here and I'll help you find the place
This place won't read your questions until hopefully Monday. Try joining the "Lost and Found Pets of Gwinnett County Georgia" on Facebook and post there, you might get a better chance.
Gwinnett County shelter is not a kill shelter they will try to Foster those dogs out unless they just have the certain mean streak that nobody can straighten them around then maybe but other than that they will not put the dogs down or cat
Luke Luke NO you do NOT let your dogs just run the streets!! They can get into fights with other dogs, hit by a car, attacked by coyotes...also not everyone loves other peoples pets getring into their yard and maybe pooping on their yards especially if they have kids...some people are evil enough that they might hurt the dog(s).....call animal control and report it
Project Catsnip...$35 to $40 for spay neuter. Its a surgery bus that travels through all Atlanta suburbs. I have used them for years. Great surgery and they do details too.
They ask that you fill out a form on their website to surrender the animal. They call you if and when they have room. I know they were full in the dog section, but not sure about cats.
Not that I know of.
They love animal food and supply donations.
Call ANIMAL control. They will first go talk with the dog owner, warn them what will happen if this keeps up. HOWEVER, UNLESS THE DOG IS A THREAT . IT WOULD TAKE GOING TO COURT TO GET A JUDGE ORDER TO REMOVE THE DOG. THAT'S how it works in Georgia counties. If those folks are being mean to the dog. Tell ANIMAL control an they will ask to see the dog. If that dog has signs of abuse showing on it. There will be a order issued to remove the dog and the owner will go to jail for animal abuse. Please call ANIMAL control.
Sorry but if you cant pay the adoption fee then PLEASE dont adopt!!!!!
w
They must be someones dogs are you able to get them and see if they have tags on them? You could post on Facebook that you saw the dogs.
Has she tried putting some peroxide on a piece of guaze and see if that helps her dogs infection!
Did they leave them with you? How long have you had them? If you take them to the shelter there is a $25 surrender fee for each one. You can call Planned Pethood in Duluth to see if they can take them.
There are many dog rescues that you can contact that would be happy to take your dog. If you need to know some i will suggest some.
Looks like no light green collier on this dog.
Usually until it gets adopted or rescued.
Go to the shelter and show a pic of her so they can better understand and help you
Absolutely.
No
You can go and visit the shelter they typically do get a lot of Chihuahua's in
Not sure how to post a picture. I've gone to the shelter the times I'm able, left a flyer there, and checking their daily reports. Hoping she's still alive.
Best to go in and bring a picture. They may say no if you describe brown as beige or say medium sized vs large or something.
You have to go online and fill out an owner surrender form. When you are contacted you can schedule a drop off day and time.
40 or less
Hi all, Thank you all for the responses. I don't see food or water set out and no access to shelter. Will they come out this late? I'm so worried, it's going to be cold tonight and it's still out there.
Not today. Mon-Thurs 11-6, Fri-Sat 11-4.The lobby opens Mon-Sat at 8-30.
Who's dog is it? Do not bring it in. Contact a rescue group for Pugs or get it some training. There is no room for dogs that have bitten. Besides, an application has to be filled out online for owner surrenders.
As part of Home of the Holidays December, the Gwinnett animal shelter is offering a Greatest Gift adoption special through the month of December. Any of the dogs and cats dreaming of a family for Christmas can be adopted at a discount, with cats available for $12, or two cats for $20, and dogs for $25. Normally, adoption fees cost $90. The fee covers spaying/neutering, inoculations, and microchipping. And best of all, the shelter is offering “Free Fridays” in December when animals can be adopted at no cost.
White lab
I think that they are no there
Right now it's only $20 and it includes spay and neuter, all the vaccines including rabies and a microchip.
When you get your pet I think they do it they
Probably if it's a state holiday.
Sorry, i was there a few weeks ago. Did see any young labs. Wish you luck. Had you tried looking at the pix online?
Like kristin has said, the shelter will put down the kittens if space is needed. Also if you are the owner of the kittens, you must fill out a form online and get proper permission from the shelter manager for them to be accepted.
What is their adoption fee
Until 6 p.m.
There's a door at the left side at the building where the office staff is able to help with adopted animal pick ups and/or process an adoption on pets that have been put on hold.
