Since I am a senior, and have acquired a few more pounds, most clothes are too small. Not everyone is a size 12. I talked to a sales person suggesting some larger sizes.

After the 1st fiscal quarter each year, in march. You don't need the checks though, they keep your balance at the store tied to your account.

Masks required. Some areas a bit tight for social distance but mostly good if not a lot of people are in the store. Staff seems to maintain standards

Normally yes, currently the store is all out. Actually, the state park passes for 2020 are all sold out everywhere. REI will have them once the new ones are issued.

There's a good chance they carry it, but look online first and if they do, either order online or call to see if it's stocked in the store before you go--many items are only available onlines because they can't carry everything in-store

If you are looking for a backpack for kids and school, Target is good. My daughter neefs her bacpack to be fashionable. Anything else, REI is a fantastic place to go. Their workers will help fit the pack to your frame.
