There was a time when bookstores fostered the open exchange of opinions and ideas. Times have changed. This frumpy little place is owned and operated by leftist ideologues who stock the shelves with books echoing their warped worldview alone. They also enforce a strict mask policy at a time when most shops have been mask-free for months. This leads to many would-be customers simply walking out. As we did, happily, rather than brave an attack by a horde of frail vegan bookworms. If you enjoy the company of wanna-be hippies and smug Ethic Studies majors — and if you just can’t live without virtue-shaming, pseudo-intellectuals and patchouli fumes — you’ve found your oasis. Otherwise, giddy up.
