I have never hiked the trail, but it's a nice spot to watch trains. The BNSF Thayer North Subdivision is right next to the conservation area and is usually very peaceful. Something to be aware of however is the fact that there is a passing siding located in the vicinity for the railroad and it's possible that trains could block the crossing for extended periods of time.

Great trail! Wear shoes that you don't mind getting wet the trail crosses the stream in a few places.

Not a great place to ride a bike. Downhill, steep, and sudden curves. Only wide enough for a footpath. Please don't become mountain lion chow. We see them a lot. Bears, black panthers, copperheads and cottonmouths in warm weather. A man died there a few weeks ago.
There is a stinky outhouse at the beginning of the trail. There are bears, cougars, and copperheads on the property. There is one neighbor who might shoot, if you cross onto his property. Stick with the trail, and don't expect your cell phone to work in the bottom. Some people have gotten lost there.

I knew it was over 400. It's beautiful there, no matter what time of year.
