The hospital staff did great with my son. However, we waited from 6pm to 11:15pm to be seen and the whole procedure was only 5-10mins. We sat in a room full of sick people who's vitals were obviously fine, for hours and was allowed to be subjected to illness. You'd think they'd want the people who aren't sick out of the emergency department asap.Others who came with mild injury came and left while my 2yr old son was crying in pain on and off. (He needed stitches on his face)Luckily I had brought tylenol and he could rest for a bit ,but the lack of urgency/slow pace in an emergency room was a little concerning. Finally, we were also given another patients discharge paperwork mixed in with ours.

Years ago, I showed up to Yale's New Haven Hospital's ER with clear signs of heart failure. The APRN who saw me in the ER didn't order the proper diagnostic tests for someone with heart failure symptoms. My diagnosis was missed (as a result of his mistake) and I was admitted "for observation." A few days later in the hospital, once my heart condition was discovered, one of the doctors told me that "a mistake has been made, my condition was overlooked." The doctor (who informed me that a mistake had been made) told me that if the person who saw me in the ER ordered the proper diagnostic tests, my heart condition would have been found/diagnosed immediately, and I would have been prescribed the heart medications I needed right away... rather than a few days later. So, I gave my medical records to a lawyer, and he had other doctors look at it. They came to the same conclusion... that not ordering the proper diagnostic tests delayed my condition from being discovered, resulting in me not receiving the heart medications I needed until later. I contacted Patient Relations. They acted nice and professional, but since it was made clear they weren't going to have the APRN who made the mistake when treating me speak with me, I asked if I could speak with the APRN's boss. When I spoke with APRN's boss, she acted really annoyed, unsympathetic (about the fact that one of her employees made a major mistake that made my life a living hell)… basically coming across as if she was only speaking with me because the hospital made her. She spoke over me, saying "I'm no longer interested in having this conversation," and transferred me back over to Patient Relations before I could even finish what I was saying. I'm sure some of Yale's medical staff members are competent, unlike the APRN who treated me, and I'm sure some of them are polite to patients, unlike the APRN's boss, who was incredibly rude.

After 5.5hrs of waiting...we realized, if we just went home and went to sleep, we could get up in 2 hours and see the doctor and treat the illness. Unfortunately, a "star" is required to leaves comments...but YNHH doesn't deserve any stars. Absolutely tragic watching multiple people suffer with no help.

Been waiting for over 3 hours to get my sons eye infection treated. Now the Pharmacy is closed and its shift change. Why on earth would it take 4 hours to assess and treat an eye infection? 6:37pm and still no treatment, but another influx of patients. Just wrong...and watching him in pain is excruciating.

Yes. The policy in the ER is 1 visitor per patient and you can not switch. Whoever comes in with him is the only visitor allowed the entire visit.
No..i need a good one who knows how to do a thorough job 😚
You can park in valet when you are in the emergency room and they will validate your ticket. So it will not cost you anything.
Who are you trying to call? I have never had a problem calling any of the clinics, and i have 10 different doctors
There are 4 YNHH Emergency Departments. For Emergency care you could go to YNHH- Adult ED at 20 York, YNHH-Saint Raphael's ED at 1350 Chapel Street (1 block away), or YNHH- Shoreline Medical Center-ED in Guilford at 111 Goose Lane. If you're looking for a child, there is the YNHH Pediatric ED at 20 York as part of the Children's Hospital. If you have Urgent Care needs there is a YNHH Urgent Care at 6 Devine Street in North Haven.
