Been a long time since I've been there.... seems the same.... the atmosphere is like it always was. Worth going in for the experience π

Delicious as always.

Come here for the atmosphere and the burger. You will not be disappointed. I ordered my burger medium-well because I don't love a pink burger. They are happy to cook it to the done-ness you want.

If you haven't had an ORIGINAL Louis'Lunch hamburger, then you haven't had a hamburger. It is a religious experience , like a mid-week day game at Wrigey Field or givinig and old flame an innocent " peck on the cheek" decades later when you both have grandchildren.

They do not use sliced cheese, never have!!!! They use a cheese spread.
Went with a friend this weekend who got his well done and they didn't fuss about it, totally fine to ask for it when ordering.
The grills are a hundred and something years old I don't think you can avoid cross-contamination
Opened as a small lunch wagon in 1895, Louis' Lunch was also one of the first places in the U.S. to serveΒ steak sandwiches. According to Louis' Lunch, the hamburger was created in 1900 in response to a customer's hurried request for a lunch to go. In 1917, Louis moved the business into a square-shaped little brick building that had once been a tannery. In 1975, the restaurant was moved four blocks down to 263 Crown Street.Β -Wikipedia
