Awesome lighthouse in amelia island.
Heightened awareness
Its nice they have a light house for the small creek next to it. I realize now its the highest place on the island so makes sense now.

Preach it i agree
Yes, you can drive right to the lighthouse. There's a small parking lot.
There is a limited time frame on Saturdays when you can access the lighthouse. The rest of the week you can pull up to the gate and see the lighthouse.
The lighthouse was originally built on Cumberland Island to guide vessels into the St. Mary’s River. The channel changed and made it so the lighthouse on Cumberland Island could no longer be seen when entering the St. Mary’s river. After the US took over Florida the lighthouse was dismantled brick by brick, shipped across the river, and reconstructed on the northern end of Amelia Island. The lighthouse is on the leeward side of Amelia island helping to protect it from storms. The light is still visible 16 miles out to sea.
