My second visit (last one in 2019) in July of 2022. Love this place. Classically northwoods resort. It is not 5 star accommodation, but better than rustic. It’s the knotty pine and log construction that you should delight in, the right amount of comfort, kitsch and friendliness. Good food at the restaurant, the staff, much of which are family, are the best. Nice little bar at the lodge and if you are lucky, on summer weekend evenings Steve will serenade on “the Thing”. A great base to go explore Voyageurs National Park by water (boat required but rentals available). Also a 20 minute drive from Vermillion Falls, a cool series a rapids with a wooden overlook.

Friendly staff and good food but that was about it. We were looking for a semi annual place to stay and fish. They claimed we damaged the boat we rented. We the . They added a service fee to our bill. Supposedly to help pay the staff. That they should pay out of our rate. We tipped the staff excellently. No lower than $20 each time. We did better fishing by our selves than with the guide which the pricing was not all inclusive. Charged for minnows and worm we didn't even know he had. All in all about $650 in extra expenses we didn't know about. The ownership was not friendly. Employee were great.

Our family has been spending time with the wonderful family of Nelson’s Resort for five generations. Certainly indicative of the five stars given but we’d give more if we were allowed.

We stopped in for dinner last August, and this was a memorable 5 star meal, with excellent entrees and presentation. The relish tray was vegetables right from the family garden. Family owned atmosphere and a classic up north venue. Best supper club in the area!
