Went for dinner on a Saturday night and ended up also seeing a jazz performance by Patty and Tuck. The food and drinks were delicious! The customer service we received from Michael the manager and Victoria our server was outstanding! I don’t live in the area but am already planning another visit.
Laura Story
The service was GREAT, the food was AMAZING, and our server Kayla was OUTSTANDING! What more could you ask for?? I will DEFINITELY return 😊😊
Kellie Corbett
Would recommend 11/10! Decor, food, staff entertainment, even the restrooms! Easy to tell, owner/management takes pride in their establishment, much to the benefit of the patron. Victoria was an excellent server! She has black girl magic! Prices are reasonable, party of 4 and we tried a little of everything!
Lee Greene
The food is ok. The meal pairings are not uniquely the best southern choices. Likewise, the cornbread is made with cream corn fyi but still good. The service is too informal for my liking & taste. I would like to enjoy fine dining but black culture. Not the lack of good service in exchange for good aesthetics

The cover charge is included on your bill
Its downtown philly, parking is definitely scattered. Whoever your going with, can pull up & let you out, then go park? Is an option? Hope this helps? 😊
The VIP pass is individual and only applicable to Gerald Veasley's "Unscripted" series every Thursday, though sometimes Unscripted performances extend through Friday and Saturday.
Yes
What is the age limit to enter
Im not familiar with Goldstar. As for reservations I went for dinner. My suggestion why don't you call them and /or ask.
Yes. Thursday night usually features some great live Jazz music.
Yes, if you want dinner in the Jazz room
Yes, you would need to check their website to see who and when artist will be performing.
Valet parking is $18... If you want street parking, arrive early!
Yes, Is a family oriented restaurant
I don't know. check the website.
Hi. I think just getting a table and listening is suffice. It's in a different room but you can still hear it.
You will definitely see the show and you can have dinner during the show as well. Most sets are about an hour and 15 minutes sometimes longer. You can also eat before the show starts. Otherwise all the seats are good. It's a very intimate space. Enjoy!!
The music was jazz and the sound was timbre, soft, and soothing. The food was delicious and flavorful . We are going back. We did not take pictures We were phone free to enjoy the evening and each other.
Maybe 2 months. Artists may be listed 2 months in advance. Only purchase tix for the Jazz club Artist. Dinner can be purchased n jazz club or restaurant side.
I believe you can buy a show there of course as long as it's not sold out
You're not guaranteed a seat so it's better to purchase in advance
Sorry I can't help you but I sure wish I knew that they had it when we visited there! Lol!
About 7 at the bar as you enter.
They can but I wouldn't allow my children to come. Plus it's not a child like atmosphere!!! Get a sitter
Yes if you paid the show
When I went, the live performance was closed off an in another room. We couldn't see the show.
Anywhere between nice casual to business attire. Emphasis on nice.
Yes, when you buy the ticket on their website, usually there will be options of available/empty tables
I would say yes, because there are 2 separate rooms. The music is for music paying customers and is in the back.
It is hard to get reservations
The dress code is business casual.
You have to use the app OpenTable to make a reservation
Here is the current lineup for the next few days. EVENTS Jeanette Harris Mon, Mar 16 9:00 PM Derrick Hodge Thu, Mar 19 7:00 PM Lil John Roberts and The Philly All-Star Band Fri, Mar 20
My side dishes was cold as well by the time they replaced them I was already finish eaten the rest of the food And our waiter was horrible won't be going back there ever again
Ms. Walker's website... TheBarbaraWalkerStory.com has not been updated since her 2018 tour dates. However, under the More Options tab, there is a Contact tab that lists her phone and fax#'s. You can attempt contacting her directly. Hope this helps.
There does not appear to be a published dress code but if you go to their website and click on "Contact Us," you should be able to get information directly from the Restaurant. Here's the URL to their website: https://southjazzkitchen.com/
Yes & idk if they'll have jazz on that night but the jazz show a must see & go
Anorher rhing...why does the website always state the venues are SOLD out when they are not! Could be a wonderful place, but needs vast improvements on these issues.
Here's their schedule: https://southjazzkitchen.com/event-directory/
I doubt it. They're very accommodating but again the best advice is to call
No you'll be seated in the restaurant area
Minas- Mardi Gras Brazilian Style 3/2/19
There is the Jazz section where you buy tickets for and reservations for dinner. It's not really separate but reservations is important.
Check online or call. Don't think we had enough to cancel a show but u never know.
There's no cover charge just to dine but if you wish to see the live jazz, I believe it's $10.
It's pretty reasonable. Maybe $50
Reasonable, im from NYC, but definitely reasonable, the food is worth it!
There is jazz performances at South every night of the week. The best thing is to get on the mailing list so you know who is performing
Go to the website and look on the calendar if you can purchase tickets it will tell you in the calendar area
I don't know to be honest, you will have to call the club....
I would especially if it's for a show.. They get packed out pretty quickly
No discounted fixed price meals for Sats during restaurant week
I definitely recommend buying tickets before hand. I not sure they sell at the door. They sell out a lot
Easier to eat dinner during the show. There is a restaurant and bar there that you can eat outside the show
If you reserve a table on the jazz side I believe they play until close. They're open 4-10p.m every day except Monday. Monday they are closed.
I don't know of any age restrictions but it's definitely an atmosphere for adults. Maybe older children like the late teens is acceptable.
You buy tickets for the jazz cafe music. Food and drink are optional. That said I've never seen anyone who didn't at least buy a beer.
Yes, they have valet. Street parking is possible, but difficult.
There is a fee on your bill for the jazz end of the restautant
May 31 to June 2 2018
Casual, but people tend to dress a LITTLE compared to, for example, the old Ortlieb's..
You can go to ticketfly also to pick ure tickets online
You can go to the website and purchase tickets online. That's how I've always reserved mine.
To hear live music is a charge which varies depending on the performer. Aside from that it's a nice restaurant and bar that's open daily.
Once the show is listed, you can buy a ticket. We have.
They have giveaways, discounts and gifts for your special day!😁
