Terrible. If I could give it 0 stars I would. There are better hospitals in the area.

Staff at the OR today were all very friendly, helpful, and kept me updated while my niece was in surgery. Very organized OR support team. Thanks!

Medical itself may be fine, but I can only recommend MedStar if you are prepared for Predatory and borderline fraudulent billing practices, rude scheduling nurses, no continuity of care. It is not a good sign that when you call their billing office, there is a special extension on the phone tree for lawyers who want billing details.

DO. NOT. COME. TO. THIS. HOSPITAL. I rarely ever write reviews, but my experience at this hospital was so poor that I have to write this review to encourage people not to come here. My girlfriend is chronically ill and we arrived at the emergency room for a severe kidney infection. The ER, surprisingly, was the most positive experience we had here. She was admitted and that is when everything went downhill. She has been admitted for two days now, and they still have no idea what is causing this infection. They are sending her home today and we were told, verbatim, “we do not know what is causing this and you won’t get the full picture here.” Are you serious? Is that not the point of the hospital? Additionally, my girlfriend’s tolerance for pain medication is higher than most, given her battle with chronic pain. They have asserted many times that “a kidney infection should not cause this much pain and require this much medication.” We provided the contact of her pain management specialist to verify her pain medication regime and they still have yet to call. They are discharging her today, not sending her home with any medications to manage her pain, all while still trying to figure out what’s going on (still waiting for final CULTURE results and they are still wanting to send her home). I am utterly disgusted with the treatment we received here and I cannot wait to leave this place!

Ask the charge nurse on the floor your family member is on about the parking discount for family members, the sparse parking is due to construction of a new building which will add an additional parking lot
Janet you can speak with a social worker from transplant. They have a couple of apartments up the street strictly for transplant patients and family
Sure
When you are on a general floor or regular speciality floor visiting hours are 0800-2100 (9PM) hours. If the patient is in the ICU or step-down ICU, visiting hours are 24/7. Do not arrive during the hours that John stated or you will wait outside of the ICU until shift change has been completed.
Yes they do. The center is on the 2nd Floor of the Main building. The Executive Director of the MedStar Georgetown Transplant Institute, Director Liver Disease & Transplant Program is Thomas Marlon Fishbein, MD. Best wishes.

If you park you your car for 2 hours try to find a free spaces on neighborhood streets, you can always park there 2 hours for free, it is almost 0.2 or 0.3 miles from Hospital. To find that parking spot just pass the MGUH 3800 Reservoir road middle entrance and turn left to upper small streets.
Sorry I do not know. I only visited the emergency room.
I do not know. Their out patient psychiatric department is quite good though.
Yes. The Executive Director of the Transplant Institute & Director Liver Disease & Transplant Program is Thomas M. Fishbein, MD. He is an excellent surgeon from personal experience.
Yes they do. Make an appointment with The Foot and Ankle Center for evaluation.
If your pain is acute or you have a broken tooth and you don't have a dentist, go to the ED. On the other hand, if you're pain is chronic, make an appointment with a regular dental office.

The drive-in entrance is Entrance 2, also known as the Emergency Room entrance. The entrance to the outpatient surgical sign-in and waiting room is to the left of the Emergency Department entrance. From there, once check-in is complete, the staff will take the patient to the area that your particular outpatient surgery will be accomplished.
