This is a nice campground, especially if you like watching ships go through the channel. The barges are REALLY LOUD if it's foggy though. You can see all across the inlet to the city, and watch all the boaters and fishermen through the day. There's a little bit of hiking in the dunes adjacent to the campground with a little beach on lake Muskgeon, or the beautiful Lake Michigan beach is a short drive or healthy length bike ride the other way. You do need a state park pass on any vehicle coming here. At time of writing the review, dogs were allowed, so expect some barking. Bathrooms were well kept. I would go back any day.

Typical state park campground. Some of the sites are hard to get into when trying to maneuver around the trees. There was standing stagnant water a few feet behind our site. You can walk to the channel from the campground. There is a nice walkway along the water.

The most that you can ask for in a campground. Nice grounds and facilities, beachfront access for kayaking/swimming, close to a large beach and just outside of town.

Look up dispersed camping. Can print out a pass daily to camp for free
No dispersed camping at Muskegon State Park. Fisherman's Landing at the east end of Muskegon Lake has some tents sites but not dispersed camping.
There is a nice boat launch in Snug Harbor, the public picnic area near the entrance of the park. There are no launches in either of the campgrounds however small light things like paddle boards and kayaks could be carried to the beach. The channel campground had a boat launch years ago, in fact there used to be a ferry service that ran from there to a dock by the submarine, but it was removed and made into another campsite loop.

In the campground on a leash and then at the beach on Muskegon lake inside the channel campground. They are not allowed on the state park beach. There is a "dog beach" with a dune just outside the state park.
I believe around $50 a night
If you have a recreation passport and you camp on your grandparents site, most likely wont cost you anything.
The channel campground does not have cabins, but the other one does. Sleeps 4.
Yes there is tent camping. There is no kayak rent close to the park.
They'll let you check in early if prior guest is gone already as well. Or park and hit the beach while waiting
Not sure. They are not fancy, just basic, like what you would expect at a state park.
Some very close, but they are hard to get
