This department should be dismantled; there are fewer city agencies that are serve less to the people of this city. An absolute waste of resources.

I love this place. It is very historic and big. It isn’t far from the Brooklyn bridge and the golden statue on top looks very cool.

I only rate the look of the building, and this one is wonderful. Beautiful architecture.

You can't unless you have a direct phone number to a DCAS employee. The best way to speak to a real person is to visit DCAS in person at 1 Centre Street. But you need to know which floor to visit. For example, the 14th floor has a customer service person who will assist you with civil service exam information. DCAS prefers to contact the public by mail because decisions are made in writing (rather than in person or by phone) such as granting you a city job or not.

Every exam has a list of qualifications and education requirements. Read the official exam posting for more information.
Am not sure for the city
Apply for openings at NYC.GOV Jobs. Take and pass related Civil Exams so DCAS may pull you out of list before or after you have applied so may go straight into required 1 year probation. Visit DCAS website for exams' list and NYC.GOV.
Try this link first to get probation information first: Web results Probationary Period - NYC.gov PDFNYC.gov › downloads › pdf › reports
At their discretion you may get employed and based on your other qualifications but you must have completed the minimum requirements by hiring time. Getting jobs at NYPD are very competitive and the listing is extensive so filling spots are never a problem by qualified candidates.
You would have to speak with personnel on the 14th floor

You may want to speak to your agency's HR Department first. If it's a health related leave like disability, maternity, etc. They may be able to excuse you with pay or partial pay. If a longer absence it will be unpaid and your union representation may have to negotiate terms on your behalf with supporting documentation and estimate leave and return dates. Be careful that it's not because you want to try working at another place because you will be terminated, lose all your benefits and may have to face investigations, DOI and possible charges and fines.

Happy Holidays / Merry Christmas! Contact HRA's Human Capital / Resources for that information. You can search HRA's website through NYC.GOV. May you get the desired results and position.
You get your name put back on the list by writing a letter to the testing center who have you the test and if your eligible you will be placed back on the list. Or you can visit DCAS at 1 centre street. 21 st floor and they will answer your questions.. my suggestion is go to the facility and you can ask all the questions you want. Good luck.
You have no other ID, I assume. You should find out about maybe getting an expedited driver's license or passport. They won't let you sit for the exam without an id.
Gather supporting documents and visit DCAS to state your case. I heard of several people getting successfully reinstated after visiting DCAS but the more one waits the more difficult it could be because there is a time limit as to when one can use their civil service title before it expires.
Yes to Sup III S/W exam if your agency cannot "mature" your Civil Service Title from II to III. If you hold a job title of Sup III, S/W they may have matured your Sup II S/W already. Don't take chances and visit DCAS in person ASAP so they may give you an accurate update before making a decision to take further exams.
If your civil service title is applicable to another agency you may be able to apply and get hired without a probationary period otherwise be ready to be placed on probation for at least a year check NYC.GOV for all citywide openings.
The School Safety Agent Exam (9326) is being offered from 1/30/19 to 2/28/19: https://a856-exams.nyc.gov/OASysWeb/Exam/List

It may take as long as a year before anyone sees test results. Check this link periodically for updates: https://data.cityofnewyork.us/City-Government/Civil-Service-List-Active-/vx8i-nprf/data
Visit that same floor for your records. Check the directory downstairs or ask the security guards. They are usually very helpful sending you to the right floor and agency.
You need to pay and fill out two separate applications for both competitive and promotional exams.
When you decline a job, they remove your name off the hiring list permanently. You will not get the Track Worker job. However, if you contact DCAS (as someone said), they can put your name back on the hiring list. You are allowed to have your name returned to the list up to 3 times only.
Check your status on DCAS when you log in. Check also your grades and standing in this link by typing your last name at right hand's magnifying glass over column headers (not the one at top!): https://data.cityofnewyork.us/City-Government/Civil-Service-List-Active-/vx8i-nprf/data
