Went there for years they forgot to assign me a counselor so I didnt even know I could get takehomes and after earning a week of takehomes my UA's began coming back diluted and even tho I consented to observed UA's they refused to do them or believe that I was remaining compliant despite my EVERY effort to demonstrate it so I had to switch clinics. Oh and the doctor once tried kicking me out cause he thought I was selling my adderalls cause my UA's didnt always come back positive. The reality was Id just run out early sometimes but did he talk to me or ask me anything? nope one day all of a sudden im being tapered down without warning and fortunatly the rest of the clinic was able to veto his decision because it was obvious to EVERYBODY it was stupid.

I am a patient at this Chandler location. I worked hard to get privileges and when I finally reached this goal, I was denied by the Dr. Made no sense to me. I was told it was due to no canceling sessions in June. If you look at the counselors at this location, the turnaround is unbelievable. Seems like every time I tried to see the counselor, I was told, “she no longer works here.” I then asked, what do I do, I need to see someone? Once I made up my mind to stay sober, I knew seeing the counselor was important. But when you attempt to see one and there is no one available, what do you do? I believe my denial for weekend privileges is not my fault and should not have been denied. Please reconsider. I would like to remain at this location but will transfer if I continue to believe the staff is not there to help. I felt so deflated when I heard about my denial. I heard similar stories of how the staff here works against helping you remain sober rather than patting you on the back for a job well done, you made it! I deemed this as complaining by people who don't get their way. I changed my mind. I see now why they feel this way. Work with your patients to help them remain sober. This type of employment takes special people. The two nurses (especially Marcie) work hard and seem to care about the patients. The rest of the staff, specifically therapists, and at times the Dr. Just seem to be another job to them. And I can almost bet the current therapist won’t be there long. Not any one of my therapist had much experience in counseling others.

I have been coming to this methadone clinic for a number of years now, and it has radically changed my life for the better. Opioid addiction is a complex issue, and I tried everything from rehab to Buprenorphine (Suboxone/Subutex) and even some alternative therapies to treat my opioid dependency, none of which were effective, and none of which came even close to treating the chronic pain I suffer from fibromyalgia as well, which methadone makes tolerable for me. Once a person reaches a dose that is right for them, their methadone should keep them out of withdrawals all day long and until the next dose. They start all patients out at 30 mg, which is appropriate and comfortable for some, but most find that they are most comfortable between 60 and 90 mg ultimately. Methadone does have it’s side effects, which can be bothersome, such as fatigue, hyperhydrosis (sweating), heat intolerance, and constipation, but in comparison with the horror of Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome (PAWS), these side effects are well worth it, as PAWS nearly always leads to relapse and causes considerable misery otherwise. Dosing usually only takes about two minutes each day, and, with AHCCS, it is easy to arrange free transportation to and from the clinic with your counselor. The staff here is great, very understanding, and will treat you with dignity, and you will not be penalized for any relapses unless you are receiving take home doses on days that exclude Sunday, on which day patients receive take home doses if they have a secure lock box to store their dose in. If you are trying to start methadone treatment, remember to bring your I.D. and insurance card if you have one, and be prepared for a -very- early morning, as the clinic opens at 4:30 a.m, and is first come first serve. And in this environment of the opioid epidemic, do not underestimate the resolve of many suffering addicts to be amongst the few (I think 5?) patients that they will take in in the morning. So be there at 4:00 a.m. if you have the ability to do so, but don’t give up hope if you don’t make it by then, and call to see if they will still take you in on that day anyways if you are late. The treatment costs 60-80$ per week without insurance, but with AHCCS, it is entirely free. But even the 60-80$ per week is worth it compared to the prices of street drugs. So good luck, and best wishes to those people trying to turn over a new leaf and leave a very painful lifestyle behind them. :)

DO NOT come to this clinic if you have a real job or any daily responsibilities. The Dr. here is consistently late. I’ve now tried to lower my dos 5-6 and I have only gotten out of the clinic by 7:30am 1 time and I get here between 5-530. The dr is supposed to be here at 6am. This has made lowering my dos without being late for work nearly impossible. So I’ll say again if you have a life a job or any daily responsibilities go somewhere else. If you have all day long to sit around and hang out while the Dr. is at home sleeping in well then this will be the place for you. Dr was late again Friday March 12th

Questions & Answers

How do I go about getting a prescription for suboxone or some other type of opiate blocker that rids withdrawal? I work full time and can't go to treatment.

70%+ of the patients at clinics like BAART also work full time. They open at 4:30am,so you should have plenty of opportunity for treatment. If you were using intervenously: Suboxone won't work. Otherwise, set an appointment and BAART Dr can prescribe Suboxone.
