This is a lovey place but extremely pricey for what you get. Finding parking for a midsized car was extremely difficult. There was nothing offered for breakfast other than coffee. One would think, considering the price of the accommodations, that there would be, at the very least, a variety of sweet rolls or something similar. I believe if you’re going to spend this amount of money for a room ($786.00 for three nights) that there would be a continental breakfast included. Also surprising was the added cleaning fee. This is a hotel after all.Why is there a cleaning fee? My room was very small and hot. You do not have the ability to control the temperature in your room. My room was too hot and the room my Daughter occupied was too cold. The lighting in my bathroom was so dim it was difficult to apply my makeup. The tub did not drain well and the toilet was the perfect size for a child. The fan in my Daughters bathroom was connected to the light switch. It was noisy and could not be turned off without turning the light off. Was it worth the price??? I don’t think so!!!

Southmoreland on the Plaza is truly a hidden oasis in Kansas City! Such a unique stay and beautiful property, and the location could not be any better. Despite them no longer offering food services, it still a lovely stay. My girlfriend and I got to try out all the restaurants on the Plaza instead! :) Staff was very friendly and responsive as well, highly recommended!

Stayed at Southmoreland on the Plaza recently and it was my first time at a bed & breakfast-style lodging. The house was in a great location and the rooms were perfectly cozy, it felt like I was home. We ran into a few other guests one day and everyone was very friendly. I want to try out a few of the other room options as I'm sure they are just as comfortable. Oh, and the bed was the most comfortable bed I've slept in. We even reached out to the team and asked which mattresses and bedding they used so we can replicate it at home. Definitely recommend staying here!

Very well located, close to all the entertainment and dining you could ask for. The property is clean, well maintained and so so very comfortable. It felt like we were in a guest room in a mansion being pampered as opposed to a hotel room. We stayed in the Clara and Russell Stover room, a cute little book gave us interesting facts about the room’s namesakes, attractions like the Nelson Atkins museum of art, the Country Club Plaza and downtown Kansas City in general. The bed was extremely comfy, very nice soft sheets and blankets, none of that scratchy wool hotel blanket stuff here. The bathtub. Oh. The bathtub. It bubbled your day away. I’m 6’5” and a definitely not a small guy and fit in very comfortably (not something I’m accustomed to). We’ll be returning as soon as we can. Fantastic place, easy check in and out process and the staff were absolutely wonderful.

Questions & Answers

I see no reference on the website to a coffee machine, coffee pot, anything. Does this place really have no means for a morning cup of coffee?

You are in luck, Jeff! Southmoreland has a Keurig in each room, along with a coffee bar downstairs in the commons room, next to where they keep the hotel's community microwave. Cheers! ☕️
