Appointment was cancelled. I came back Saturday because the text said I could walk in starting Saturday and was turned away because I didn’t have an appointment. The security guard was rude and the waiting hallway was freezing. Don’t recommend.

Wow! I was kind of terrified to go to the MVC after reading reviews from various centers. Plus THIS particular center is 19mi away from where I live, and an Uber ride here cost an arm and a leg. I was afraid that I might have a less than fruitful day. Thank God that wasn't the case. I was in and out in record time, none of my time was wasted. NOTE: You do need an appointment. I know it's quite the hassle to get one, but DO get one.

Oakland DMV in New Jersey is the only DMV I go to. The people are friendly, kind and get you in and out with lightening speed! I've been going to the Oakland DMV for years since I found out it existed and have never been frustrated by having to wait hours like I did when I went to any other New Jersey DMV. If you're looking for service with a smile and compassion, I highly recommend the Oakland, NJ DMV. Many thanks to all the wonderful folks who work there, they've turned DMV nightmares into a dream experience.

8/2020. DUE TO COVID THE LINE IS AT THE BACK OF THE SHOPPING CENTER. They have a sign in the window. You need to bring extra patience & tons of ID. I arrived at 6:15 for an 8:00 opening. Students automatically are serviced first. Yes - MVS has students cut in line. If you’re a student it’s OK to arrive at 7:59. They opened up for renewals at 9:30. Then it’s the normal DMV experience. I was out by 10. I came here for a renewal & I had the papers for REAL ID. Although DMV website says you can have REAL ID, this is not so. I did get my regular renewal. Concerning the line in the front, when I arrived at 6:15 there were about 150 people in the wrong line in the front of the building. At 7 when DMV showed up they told the people they are in the wrong line. The people were livid because they had to go to the back of the correct line. Oakland PD has to show up because a citizen thru a temper tantrum. PLEASE VISIT THEIR WEBSITE BEFORE YOU LEAVE YOUR RESIDENCE TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE CORRECT PAPERWORK. There is always someone who does not have the right stuff and goes nuts when they are rejected after spending 3 hours in line.
