This used to be a great place for birding and photographs of abandoned buildings. Much of the bird habitat has been destroyed over the last year, including beautiful old trees that the woodpeckers loved. The pool area, where many birds used to nest and forage during migration, has been razed and is now just ugly dirt. They destroyed the one building that provided shelter from wind and rain near the lake, which was ideal for lake watching, and left only the fireplace. With so much destroyed, the spooky charm of the place is now gone.

I was looking for the abandoned girl scout camp.. but it looks like it has been revamped. It was still a beautiful place and I will be going back in the fall to see the foliage.

Sorry Marisa never was a girl scout
I'm the caretaker here at Beechwood. We are open dawn til dusk year round. Camping is free for up to five days but you must register with me. Anyone who camps must have id. I need to know the make, model and license plate of any car that will be in the parking lot after dusk. There is no garbage service here,so everything is carry in/carry out. Whatever you bring in the park, you must take back out with you. Fires are allowed only in designated fire pits and there is absolutely no alcohol allowed in the park. After your 5 days of camping is up,you must wait atleast 20 days before you come back to camp. Any other questions can be answered by calling me directly at (315)576-0836.
Is this a state park with acess to water? Sorry never been and does the trails lead to the camp...
No, I didn't see any electric anywhere.
Only one
There's plenty of trails that are easy walking. But! From where you park, it's a bit of a walk just getting down to the old camp. Definitely wear comfortable shoes. And on the way out, it's a slight uphill.
No, only open dawn to dusk, thanks to much recent vandalism.
We reopen for a trial basis on july 1st. If there are any incidents after that,we will close again until the video surveillance is in place.
Hi,Peter. It's still going to be atleast a few more weeks before the park reopens. The town is coming in and putting in water lines, electric lines, and video surveillance. Once that project is complete,we will be reopening the park.
But now the park is closed due to vandalism last fall. The town is doing repairs and knock down of old structures.Hopefully it will reopen soon.
It is the old girl scout camp
