We have really loved staying here in our trailer! The rangers, camp hosts and other guests are lovely π We accidentally booked our stay in electricity only but itβs been fine! Water pumps near by and hot showers so dry camping has been easy. The hikes are lovely and we have really enjoyed seeing all the wildlife. Rabbits, deer, turtles and even some raccoons! Great base for exploring Louisville and Iβd highly recommend staying here!!

Awesome history and wildlife including turtles and fish. There is an old pool and other historic buildings that are still standing from the flood, won't ruin it with pictures, you have to go see for yourself. This is also wheel chair accessible but make sure you have a fully charged battery!

I've lived in southern Indiana for years, and I had never heard of the GEM hidden in the Park: the remnants of the Rose Island Amusement Park. Be forewarned: there is a significant hill that separates one from the parking lot (see sign below). But, at 65, I could make the upward journey with three rest stops. You will be rewarded with a walk-through a large historic park that at one time was filled with great times and good memories for our grandparent's parent's time. It is well worth the time!

Absolutely loved our time here! Would love to come back to check some of the other trails. Came here mostly to see rose island and it didn't disappoint!

149 is a good spot
Anna. It does have covered areas. Bring a 10 to get in. RR facilities available. 34 bucks additional to camp overnight. There are shower facilities at camp ground. Security is good. Camp showers are very clean. And safe;cleaned every morning. Lots of trails. 34 bucks gives ou access to campground during the week. 38 for Thursday Friday Sat and Sun. Grassvis well kept. A camp store. Lots of restrictions on firewood; buy it at the entry gate it is not too rxpensive. Bring your own matches.
No. They do close the park certain times of the year to clear out some of the deer population, but you may have to inquire about that.
Yes. Not much left from the amusement park but there are plaques telling you about the park and where the facilities were and what they were. It was a nice hike but very tiring to walk down the entry trail the. Have to hike back up. The park was abandoned ed in 1937 after a massive flood in the area. It never recovered.
Not in the park. San Pedro Mexican restaurant is a good place to eat in Charlestown. The address is ,1109 Market St, Charlestown, IN 47111. I am not associated with this restaurant whatsoever.
If you take a guided tour, they will drive you down the hill and across the bridge if you're not able to do it yourself. They will bring you back up also.
Ticks are bad this year all over lndiana
I would say yes most state parks are available year round but pleaS call and confirm
Lapping park in Clarksville is probably the closest.
Enter gate, then turn right. It's down about a half mile on the right. There are signs.
This is not an option at the State Parks. However, such styles of camping is possible in a National Forest.
There is a $12 nightly fee for primitive/tent camping. Reservations can be made here: https://indianastateparks.reserveamerica.com/
No
As far as I can tell you, the cground is not experienceing the water issue, I believe they are on the ammo plant water system. This probably one of the better cgrounds in the state, depending on the lot, u have water, electric, and a waste hookup. No lake, but def a good place to camp ( take time off, and disconnect)
All sites have electric. Seems there could be RV's next to your site. Not the greatest for tenting IMHO
There is a map online.
If you're not interested in the water park you'll have to go to another town, sorry...
There isn't technically a biking trail that I know of, but there is a paved road that goes down to rose island. It is VERY steep though and I can't imagine riding a bike up it. There is plenty of road to ride on though around the park.
Yes. $23 (Mon. thru Thurs.) and $30 (weekends) a night for electric.
Not sure, I've always came early and drove around the camp grounds and picked one out. I guess it depends on how far your away.
Yes they have a golden pass that cost 25 vs 59 for regular admission

Off season, Nov-March, no. They do during peak season, April-Oct.
We brought our two dogs, but we don't leave them tied up to bark, if we go for a walk, we take them with us. I understand where you are coming from. Why bring the pets if you just leave them. Another thing, it really irks my wife and me is when we see that some pet owners won't clean up behind their pets. The same goes for people that hike trails and toss there trash instead of taking it back out.
It was called Rose Island and was virtually destroyed by flood in the 1930's. Nature has reclaimed 99.9% of what was left. They have a great walking tour of the area though.
The only hill at Rose Island is the paved walkway down to the bridge. It is very steep.
