I enjoyed my visit to 2nd and Charles. They have a wide selection of titles from newer to old to rare and you are likely to find some unexpected gems at enticing prices . I found the floor staff to be welcoming and openly offering help and others allowed me to browse without acknowledging my preference...the best of both worlds. Now, my experience with trading in previously owned books is what left my first visit wanting. Based on the reviews I read prior, many described a flawless and seamless process from trading in to purchasing new titles with said credit received. I arrived and brought my titles to the trade in desk and was told that I would receive a text for the trade in value of my items and could make a decision to trade in from there shortly at the cashier. I expected them to offer me very little and to pick through the titles that would most likely sell. I brought them roughly 10 new unread books or books never read. They kept the YA and turned away anything non-fiction having to do with education or any textbooks. I never received a text. I wandered the store for about an hour and went and paid for my books. I then went to the trade in desk but no one was there. I then went to the cashier and she didn't have an answer regarding the status of my trade in. I paid for my items and then went back to the trade in desk that was now attended. They showed me a write up of the $7.57 I would receive for trade in....less than a dollar per book (shrugs)😏 So, then I asked if I could apply the amount towards my purchase. The attendant referred me back to the cashier with a receipt. I asked the cashier if I could trade in my store certificate and apply it to my purchase. She said sure, took my receipt and ended up saving it on my store account for a future purchase 😑. I figured that I would just quit while I was ahead. So, I'm going to give this store a 4 because the buying process and the overall visit was strongly favorable and likely I would visit again. But, the hiccups and quality with the trade in/buy back process was disappointing.

I love used book stores and this place has a huge selection to choose from. I never really know what I want when I walk in but always find plenty of great books to add to my "next to read" que. The staff selected titles in the center displays are always a good place to start

My wife and I were so impressed with this store! A great mix of old and new between books but also games, dvds, knick knacks, etc. This is a fantastic place to look if you are gift shopping for someone with a budget in mind. The customer service was also very friendly.

2nd & Charles was a surprisingly, pleasant find. Took my son here to buy records but we were both impressed by the number of records available. Records covering the past 70 years were lying in wait for eclectic and collector buyer alike. …

Masks are required and you must be 6 feet apart.
They might, I mean they sell everything that you mentioned, I would call first.
The general rule is what you can fit into the provided bin they can accept in one day per person. Once you drop off the items you are selling they will provide you a number "similar to the DMV" you can opt into giving your mobile number so they can text you once your appraisal is completed. If you do accept the offer they will process payment and take your state issued ID for verification (it must be valid) if you do not accept the offer you will be given your items back.
Yes.
All the prices are different, depending on the book.
No, clothes, mostly books.
I don't know, I'm s customer.
I have Japaneses magazines that I would like to get rid of. How much would I get?
I'm quite sure you'd have to ask them.
Probably
Yes
2nd & Charles tells you they give you less money because they want you to buy stuff from them. McKays bases it on online values but also is reasonable. You're more likely to get more at McKays, honestly.
Yes, they're fair, but I recommend also getting a second quote from a comic book store.
Interesting. I guess that you would just buy the new one. 2nd and Charles also sells new, unopened stuff. I go there for the used books, and old movies. Not really for new or recent releases.
