Worst thing I’ve ever been too. Way too many people, was not scared at all. Need to let people go in by themselves instead of everyone at the same time. Didn’t even get to finish all the attractions because they closed way earlier then they say they do. Worst haunted house I’ve ever been too. Waste of money. The only thing that was good was the audio tour and the building. Would definitely go for day tour but Halloween nights was awful.
amaya
would be better if they didn’t send you in the attractions with a group of 20+ people, like it was so crowded inside of the attractions so didn’t really get to experience it the way i thought i would. pretty cool looking, but i was really disappointed. maybe that was just my experience idk
Michael Irby
Great gave me a Lil scare !!!!
Yuriy Shaykevich
Used to go eveey year. Not what it used to be. Not scary . Unorganized. They let too many people in at same time making it not scary at all. Never again

Prices are on their website
Yes. Daytime hours run everyday from 10am to 5pm.
No
Depending on what day you go and whether you purchase online or at the event the prices start at about $20.
No, this has been replaced by self-guided night tours.
A speakeasy is an underground bar that was made back in the 1920s during prohibition.
Depends on the night! Weekdays usually around 11 or 12. And weekends especially Halloween weekend the last group may go in around 1:30.
Checking the site is the best way to tell because they have sales all the time and different events, prices dont stay the same for long periods of time.
You go in a group but if the group is too big you will be split up and smaller groups
You should go on the eastern state penitentiary website because the closer it gets to Halloween the hours may change. There on the website you can pick your date and see what's what. Here you go: https://secure.interactiveticketing.com/1.23/0152ad/?slot_date=2018-10-23#/select
To allow touching...for extra scare effect. Nothing hurtful.
a
Yup, there is a booth. I recommend spending the extra 5 to skip the line.
Yes, kids 7 and older.
The prison is open regularly for touring . Check the schedule for the Halloween special haunted house. You can buy tickets for either online.
We were not asked, but if the concern is not looking old enough (18), then perhaps we weren't asked for id because it was very obvious that we were over 18. It sure wouldnt hurt to bring id if you think you might be asked for it .
I am sure Nicole is correct, but my advice is to call them yourself and find out since they may have specific questions to ask you . It can take a couple of hours inckuding wait time, so be prepared.
There is an age restriction of 7 years old, it's on their website. This would terrify my 10+ year old cousins though so I guess it really depends on the kid. I'd recommend going on a family night, that night there is a "safe phrase" kids can say to get actors to back off. It's like "monster be good" or something.
It's definitely an adult only experience! Very terrifying even for adults.Take the kids to the kid friendly night if anything.
I went two weeks ago and they let me go in an hour before my ticket time. It was a weekday though
Depending on what night you go and whether you buy your ticket online or in person, $19 to $50 for plain admission. You'll pay more for add-ons, like Al Capone's Speakeasy.
Because its a very popular attraction that people find more enjoyable when the sun goes down, I recommend purchasing tickets online if traveling afar because if they close the lines before everyone gets in then you won't receive a refund and by doing online assures a definite spot
Blood Yard!
Wrong person
Should be allowed to do that as long as you purchase something at the bar. There's two of them across the street. Highly recommend Jack's Firehouse
About 2hrs
Once you go in there's not a real time you'll need to leave if your up to it you can keep going in the area's.
Vip pass is about 37
Yes. Bring a mask, they are doing a great job social distancing!! I was very comfortable.
The museum is open.
Please check the website for times and pricing
They are only doing night tours. Terror behind the walls was canceled this year unfortunately
Support the historical site by taking a night tour.
Terror behind the walls is not doing their 2020 season due to the pandemic. They are doing tours of Eastern State at night.
Yes
I believe 16.
About 1 or 2am
I belive theu sell group tickets but they are super nive ask them nicely and im sure they will let u guys go togeather after all u did pay for tge tickets already
Children under the age of 7 are not permitted. Children aged 7-12 are recommended to attend family nights held every sunday before 7:30pm (special rates are a available). On family nights if children say "Monster be good!" A actors will back away. After 7:30 and on non-family nights children will not have that option. Children under 18 need to be accompanied, but they are not prohibited from regular shows and should not be prohibited from opting-in.
It's mostly indoors. The lines are outside in like a courtyard thing so I'd wear something with a hood but if it's not torrential rain it should be fine. The ending with a snack area is all outdoors.
I know the lemonade was $4... We didn't buy food.
It is close to pricey hotels in center city, but is directly in Fairmount, which is mostly homes, bars amd restuarants.
Don't lean against the walls. There is a lot of peeling paint. There's clean benches to sit on if you need to sit. Nobody pulled on our clothes.
Speakeasy closes at 11 if I remember correctly
Prices go up the closer it gets to Halloween. Well worth it.
Just go and enjoy yourself! Take your inhaler but it isn't strenuous at all and glasses don't matter at all
Water bottles are a no-go, but asthma pumps are fine.
Price is the same If you opt in as they call it you get a glow necklace letting actors know your ok to get touched or pulled from your group. If at any time you dont want that anymore you simply remove the necklace and drop it on the ground and you will no longer be "opted In"
Around 40 minutes, some people move slower, some faster. Also it can take up to an hour if there is a lot of people. This does not account for the line to actually get in, which could take an additional 20 to 25 minutes.
630 pm till 11pm. Some of it is wheelchair. Prices start at 24 and go up to 44 look on their website for the day you want to go.
For a Correction Officer you have to be 21...😂 all other positions you can obtain a worker's permit under 16.
There's a lot next door an a lot of available street parking.
You really only get seperated from ur group for a few seconds. U will all meet right back up around the very next corner. But u will get grabbed and messed with if u wear the necklace. My opinion, theres no point in going if u dnt wear the necklace. But if u want a more intense haunted house experience, go to Pennhurst Asylum...Much better...
Well Acme isn't National I believe so if u didn't live near one a coupon wouldn't do you any good. ...there could be promo codes for eastetn state Penn ..there were a lot of ppl from all over..
The penitentiary is open as what is essentially a museum. The haunted house Terror Behind The Walls is only in the fall.
Only during hunting season. And you have to have the appropriate hunting permit.
There is limited space but if you call ahead you may be able to reserve a spot large enough for a bus
Lol right would be fun
The 10 of this month is the last day
Park at the zoo parking garage and then take the ghost bus right to the prison. You have to pay to park but if you do it online its discounted.
They will honor your ticket if you are late, they will let you in whatever time slot they're on when you get there
10:am
7. You will see the times available online when you buy your tickets. You are much better off getting them in advance wirh a time slot, and I believe there may still be a discount for that. Have fun! It's awesome.
I think it will be fine if you buy the tickets on Friday. Will probably be less crowded too.
Unfortunately no you have to go for your schedule time I tried it and I was denied but I did get a refund or should I say and exchange
They said if you arrive late they will honor your ticket and you'll go in whatever time slot they're on.
The 9 will have to wait for the 930 to get in...I suggest the 9 group be last 930 be 1st in their group so get there around 8:45
The closer it gets to Halloween, the busier it gets. So do check their website as suggested.
If you schedule your time at 7pm (example) by the time you get through about 60 to 90 minutes unless you're running lol.
KK no one is going to rush you through. It's impossible to do all 6 themes in 30 minutes unless you're running. Take your time and enjoy all the shocks scares and ghouls!!
Thank you guys. I purchased the tickets for the haunt on Sunday at 10pm. I won’t bother paying an additional $13 for shuttle. I’ll find parking around the prison hopefully
The strobe lights blinded me completely but I was able to feel my way through.
Prices vary but if you go to an Acme Supermarket they have $10 off coupons no matter what the price is for the time you choose...my roommate works there he's been working there for the last three years he says it's always best to try to get there between 7-10pm while the actors are still fresh.
Yes you can, although it will be searched at check in. I recommend you don't bring one because there are many interactions and physical activities like a ball pit or crawling and a bag will slow you down.
They do have a shuttle at the zoo but you do have to pay extra for it. They say about half hour before your time starts
Street or paid lot across the street.
I'm pretty sure they have group packages u should check the site
If you are lucky, you may be able to find street parking around the perimeter of the prison. They also offer parking at the Zoo (maybe $15?), and from there they will shuttle you to the prison.

It depends. If you can travel in a crowded train during rush hour, youll be prepared. You can also decide at the start whether its ok or not for the actors to touch you. There's nothing dangerous and anything scary is really about the element of surprise. So if you can take that not being pregnant, you should be fine. It's all walking, and you may have to wait a long time standing to get in, even with tickets. I didnt experience any pushing or shoving inside. People move slowly.
Yes, I don't know if you was to sign a waiver being pregnant releasing your right if you getting hurt if your not Fully insuranced
From their website.... We recommend that kids ages 7-12 visit on our Family Nights, held each Sunday until 7:30 pm. (On these nights, kids who get too scared can say, “Monster, be good!”) Kids under the age of seven are not permitted on the site. Visitors under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian complete a waiver for them.
You choose your time but buy the tickets ASAP because they sell out fast. Also check the Ghost Bus schedule if you plan to prepay for parking.
They stagger entry so there aren't lots of people going in at the same time . Each year we waited a long time outside anyway. So I doubt the difference in time by a half hour matters, especially since you will likely be there before 9:30 anyway.. But I do advise you to call them.
If you are to scared you can ask someone if you can leave.
You can leave at any point just let one of the staff know there always walking around in costume
You don't need to exchange the tickets. They only give you a time slot so that the attraction won't be that busy so you really could go anytime within the half an hour time slot.
People have different situations and interests. I suggest you go on their website and check out the fees that apply to you. https://www.easternstate.org/halloween/
Also if it pertains to you, check up to what age has to be accompanied by an adult. Correct that 7 years and under are not permitted .
Sorry but No refunds are given for any reason.
Certain areas can be if you decide to go into cells/ rooms etc. Theres easy access to open spaces.
I agree. The longest line is the one outside.. .really long and down the block the closer it gets to Halloween. They stagger the entering in which is why . Also the later in evening the busiest . Very popular with all the college students in Philly. Dont bother with any special pass but do buy tix online .
The attraction remains open through the first weekend of November. Nov 3 amd 4 are "Remix," the same attractions but in total darkness.
It's not necessarily scary, it's educational more than scary. Teaches you all about the system and how things got to where they are today and how it ran when it was in use.
Check out their link. It will answer many of the questions you all have and according to your own circumstances. You can buy tickets online and save money. http://www.easternstate.org/halloween/
7 years old and older
I believe you have to be 7 or older. Price varies depending on day. Check online. You can buy and schedule a time to go
https://www.easternstate.org/halloween/ here..all you need to know for your particular situation. There are FAQs if you scroll down.👻
Each teen has to sign their own waiver....even if parents were present
https://www.easternstate.org/halloween/schedule I suggest you check out their link as there are different prices, including cheaper to buy online.
There is no age limit. If you are still alive, you can enjoy the attraction. In fact, it's full of the dead who seem to still enjoy it. I wouldnot recommended for children younger than 12 given the combination of the environment, crowds, and haunted atmosphere. Of course it depends on the personality of the kid.
It's good to go during the day or get VIP after hour passes for the regular tour. Especially if youre interested in the history of it.
7 and up for admittance, but the swat team cellblock abductions it is 18 or older.
Yes, there are three clowns in the 3D portion of the attraction. Other than that it’s mostly prison inmates.
It's a great time!
Yes and the actors are great! They can only touch you if you "opt in" and wear a red glow necklace they give you. They aren't rough and it's a cool experience!
No
Ages 7-12 can go on "Family Nights", with an adult. Parents must sign waivers for any children under the age of 18. And adults must sign waivers for themselves, as well. Check their website under the "Faqs" section for more details.
Yes! Check the websute for audition and interview times.
No but it isn't for the faint of heart
No, nothing is dangerous there. You can go through it normally or you can go through with giving them permission to touch you. If you want them to interact with you (touch you) then they will put a red X on your face so they can tell you apart from the others. Now if you are interacting with them they can grab one of your limbs, but nothing they do is dangerous. The actors can also make you go through secret passage ways in the walls, and these passage ways are padded. No matter what this place is alot of fun, and you should have no worries. Well, maybe one worry. Like who is going to jump out and scare you. Lol
As a native American I certainly believe there are...there's a lot of history at this establishment and there were a lot of things that were unexplained..very intriguing to see the old footage and read the literature not to mention walking the halls that people like al Capone once lurked
I'm sure they will not release that information.
Yeah. Check out their website.
Yes, but not as a haunted house. Only as a musuem.
They don't even actually look at them I'm under 18 to
No fire works sorry
Its a glow stick...what it signifies is confirmation for the actors to incorporate you into the attraction as they see fit...they can grab you and such but you can absolutely not put your hands on them...they will not put you in harms in anyway but its meant to feel the whole effect of each scene, trust me its certainly worth it and highly recommend it...if you opt out of doing it then I promise it won't be the same
Nope. One of the reasons they're the best. Terrifyingly fun!
They cant harm you at all. And if it gets too much there are exists at every turn. Believe me i know i used them lol
The inside tour is about half hour. The line outside goes around the block by 9 especially a friday. So you're looking at 1 hour an a half to two hours on line. But even though it sounds long you will be entertained while you're in line. Zombies walk around and you can take pictures with them. Its a must go event
You will park at the Philadelphia zoo and they have arranged haunted style buses to transport you to the prison...
You can do either or, that's a really good question...I recommend printing them off just in case something happens to the confirmation email sent to you...you know technology so I highly recommend printing just for a backup like I do...hope this helps
They will encounter with you if opt for it to happen, if you wish to not be interacted with then don't take the glow stick ring nor get the paint symbol put on your face...but I assure you That's half the experience...they will not harm you in anyway but I promise if you don't do the whole experience you will regret it because my opinion that's the best part if you're a thrill seeker
The price ranges from $20-$50 depending on the day during October. Early in the month on a weekday evening will get you the cheapest ticket. Later in the month on a weekend night will be the most expensive.
I think 7 days a week for two months! I go every yr haven't got my tickets for this yr yet . But I'm sure ill get my tickets this week!
I'm sorry to hear that, I'm not actually a employee for eastern state but actually a big fan and regular so I can't actually help you with tech. Issues but would recommend either resetting your browser or phone and trying that..if that doesn't help I'm sure tech services will be on top of the issue..remember Oct. Is very big for them so there will be high traffic on there site that may cause issues..hope this is helpful feel free to ask any further questions and will answer to best of my ability...ty
As long as your parents sign a waiver which basically says your parents give you the ok to go to it, you will have to have 1 or both of your parents with you to go though because the content of the attraction can be very frightening for kids
The website has all the required information but right off the top of my head I believe if youre under age of 18 you have to have parents sign waiver on website.
You actually park at the Philadelphia zoo(parking garage) right next door and then you take the haunted bus ride which are school buse painted black for part of the attraction and is all included with you passes..its like a 15 min. Ride from the zoo to the penitentiary...hope this helps
The complete calendar schedule is available on the website hope this helps thanks
The website has all the pricing and scheduled dates...I believe if I remember correctly it varies depending on day...well worth the money and time I promise you if you go once you will return year after year...I find doing research on the establishments( eastern state, pennhurst mental asylum) make the experience that more enjoyable as both places have true history that is documented and have both had paranormal experiences and encounters that have been featured in several documentaries..call me crazy but I promise you when you're actually there it makes you chill up...I hope this helps and I hope you become a regular as it is amazing and all proceeds go to helping keep these buildings of history remain standing..any further question feel free to message thank you and have fun.
The website has all the dates you need for scheduling..I recommend ordering online if you're driving afar as it guarantees a spot inline..thanks
The complete scheduling is on the website..date, times, pricing I hope this helps..thanks
For the Museum? No limits! For the haunted house: 7 is the minimum age for entry
