Went there on a Saturday evening. Unfortunately a bit cloudy and all close by planets were not visible. But ok, that's what we call nature. The volunteer staff are all super kind and motivated. Explaining everything, answering many questions. Also kids are welcome here.

This is one of my favorite places to explore in Lincoln! The hyde observatory also offers cool experiences to the public on Saturday nights (i dont know how covid has effected these events but i went to one when i was in a college astronomy class for extra credit). From this part of holmes lake, there is access to a dock and many cool walking trails. It is a lovely area of wilderness and if you're lucky you might see some cool wildlife! It is usually not too busy during mornings and nights as well, which allows for peaceful experiences outside. This is also a great location to watch the fireworks during the fourth of July! 10/10 recommend exploring this area of Lincoln. πŸ‘Œ

Fantastic place to spend a Saturday evening - they have three telescopes and show interesting films about space. The volunteers are very knowledgeable and helpful.

Questions & Answers

Is there a place we can view the stars tonight, September 14? We're in Lincoln for the night and was hoping to visit an observatory but I'm not finding one open tonight.

The observatory is open on Saturday evenings. You can still go to the park by the observatory.

Can a person look through a telescope and see the planets?

Yes, sorry your question has gone unanswered for so long. It is open every Saturday in the evenings for sky viewing with 3 or 4 telescopes. They also show short programs. But check website for dates they are closed near major holidays.

Does one need a reservations
