Really cool place in my book.. decent river access at the boat ramp and awesome Shoreline to play on with my dog not too far down the river from the boat ramp. Couple good spots back in the woods off the beaten catheter decent for fishing but most recently the one at the end of riparian Lane was getting pretty well dried up. Tons of space to explore and hike and great spots for camping that aren't all right on top of each other whether individually or in groups also. It's right next to the DeSoto national wildlife area that offers different amenities as well including the small Lake that would be great for jon boat or kayak but haven't ventured that for myself yet. Honestly probably one of the more peaceful places I've been able to find on the river... I will definitely enjoy returning back hopefully many times in the future!!

Yes, there are hydrants and every Campground area. Within probably a hundred yards of almost every all of the camper sites that we saw did not have a water hookah you had to put water in your fresh tank.
No wifi.
The latest update is that the campground is closed, sadly, and the campground area was blocked off when the was there a month ago.
No swimming allowed at the river. The current is much too dangerous.
Right now you don't have to..
Wilson Island is closed due to flooding of the Missouri River in March of 2019. This affects all uses of the park including camping, fishing, hiking, mushroom hunting, Missouri river access and biking. A date for reopening has not been set. Damage varies, but considerable silt and debris cover the shelter area and east campground. Please call the park office for additional information: 712-642-2069. You can also watch here for updates: https://www.iowadnr.gov/Places-to-Go/State-Parks/Alerts-and-Closures
Wilson Island is open, however recovery from the flood of 2018 continues. Campsite selection is very limited. The boat ramp and pit toilets are open. Drinking water is not available. Campers may camp up to 14 consecutive nights in an Iowa state park/recreation area. Campers must then vacate the park (including removing the camping unit) for a minimum of 3 nights before camping in that park again. For more information, please call the park office at (712) 642-2069.
River fishing best place to fish 2nd rock pier dow river from the boat launch. But big poles catfish bite starting after 11 and some one just puled 50 pounder out last week
You can have a tent with electric. You just have to pay the fee. FYI there is a large quary across the river that has 24/7 operations and they blast daily. If you're looking for a quiet campground this isn't one of them. You hear the big trucks all night long.
I believe it was $16 per night for an electric site
Not s trail. The nearest town is Missouri Valley iowa. About 5 miles. You could bike there, but s long walk.
It is $11 a night per spot, additional $5 for electric hookup, limited sites available
