This 242-feet high and 6,423-feet long dam is incredible and part of what makes the Ozarks possible: the area along the White River used to have frequent catastrophic floods. The 22-minute video is fascinating and very informational. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The visitor center has info about Native Americans, hydropower, the building of the dam, and more. It’s third level has gorgeous views overlooking the White River, Table Rock Dam, Lake Taneycomo, and the fish hatchery. We arrived at 9, when they open, and finished exploring everything—including the video—in less than 90 minutes.

Been to quite a few visitors center, and this place had the nicest staff! They took the time to talk with you, ask questions, give you information, and interacted very nicely with our children. Center looks brand new, a few interactive activities, and some great information. The observation deck is very neat! I think you could spend anywhere from 20 minutes to 2 hours at the center reading and watching the videos. We took our two school-age children here and spent about an hour. Bonus, they have very nice indoor restroom. The center itself is multi levels, but does have an elevator.

Very nice stop. Large visitor center and museum highlighting the building of the dam by the Army Corp of engineers. Overlooks Table Top lake and the dam. Definitely worth a stop. Clean restrooms.

The Dewey Short Visitor's Center is at Table Rock Lake between the USACE Project Office and the hydroelectric dam. It has interactive exhibits about the lake, wildlife, the dam, the environment, and lake safety. There's a 15 minutes video of the history of Table Rock Lake in the very nice theater. The building is is a Leed Gold Certified building, with many conservation related features. It is a lot of fun for families, retirees, nature buffs, groups and individuals. There are nearby trails and places to fish along the shoreline.
