Amazing that tea is grown right here in America. Loved the Tea Trolley tour. Great gift shop!

Very mixed emotions on this one... First the Tea Garden was wonderful and the tea was good. The grounds were just beautiful with a large number of water oaks, and fun to stroll around. Here's the catch. They bill themselves as the only American grower of tea and they are justifiably proud of that fact; however too many of the items they sell in the shop are manufactured in China and Vietnam, including "hand woven" sweetgrass baskets instead of some from the incredible local weavers for which Charleston is known. This store should be celebration of "all things local," not all things brought in on a container ship. They completely missed an opportunity to enhance their brand and chose instead to bastardize it. One additional point, I picked up both brochures at the shop looking for information on the place and the company's backstory...nothing. Again, a missed opportunity to share the full story that is on the website, which if you have time you should read...it's pretty cool.

Loved this place! Very informative tour, samples of most teas, very nice gift shop with a wide selection of gifts and friendly, helpful staff, couldn't ask for a better experience.

They told us you can call in an order and they will ship. We were there in May
I think April would be a good time to visit. The tea leaves are just starting to grow, but the tour focuses on more than just harvesting. It's a wonderful place to visit, especially in the spring.
You can buy them online. I grew one in Michigan. I just had to bring it in during the winter. They are called Camila Sinensis and any actual teas (green, black, white...not herbal teas) are made from this same plant.
If you are asking about the tram, you could get the tour once you arrive. If you are asking about the tea, you could buy it online or at the plantation.
Yes the gift shop has set hours but I would call to ask about the trolley tours.
I have been there in June and watching the leaves go through the process was awesome.
I would think so, but call to see if they are harvesting or processing. We went during a down time, so tour was less interactive. Still, worth it just for the tea and experience.
The tea garden does not suggest Uber and Lift because it very difficult to get a ride back once you reach the Charleston Tea Garden.
Maybe a service animal? It's not really a park
For the factory tour, you must walk up a flight of stairs. There is no ramp. The parking lot is gravel. There are two handicapped parking spaces. For the trolley tour, you must walk two - four steps into the trolley. A wheelchair will not fit in the trolley. A walking cane will fit as you walk down the aisle. You will need to call and ask if both tours are auditory described.
Not tea plants. The fields are condoned off from visitors as well.
There was damage to some of the bushes in one of the fields due to flooding but most of the bushes were unaffected by the storms.
Yes, the main building is wheelchair/ADA friendly. The tour trolleys are not.
You should call the facility directly
They do not, they are not a tea room, but they do offer free samples of their teas in the gift shop!
They have a factory tour inside that's free and if you go to the fromt desk of the gift shop there's tickets for a trolly ride around the plantation for 14$ each adult, the tour is definetely worth it, lots to learn
Charleston Tea Plantation on Wadmalaw Island. Boone Hall Plantation in Mount Pleasant.
weather permitting bring a picnic lunch...beautiful sitting spots.
The Oolong tea is branded as Bigelow tea. They sell the Bigelow Oolong there and elseware. The Bigelow family runs the plantation.
To go in the building and to go on the factory tour it is free. As for the trolley tour (when I went) was $12 for adults and $6 for kids under the age of 12
Yes they do. And they are adorable. And Yuri, you are missing the point. What better way to interest your children in history and the culture of tea than having a tea set purchased at a tea plantation? It's memories that build tradition. Kids love that.
No restaurant and that's sad. Our ladies group drove out there ( took @ an hour ) loved everything, BUT we had to leave to go do lunch. Maybe they could consider a small eatery with local lunch items 10 to 3 or something like that..
Trolly ride has a charge, the tour of their tea processing facility is free. Trolley ride was enjoyable and entertaining as the driver was quite funny and an excellent storyteller.
