Long wait but very polite and efficient employees.
Newkirk Linda
Waited for an hour and a half only to be turned away due to lack of staff. Will try again tomorrow
Joline Abbey
Appointment at 10:00. Got there at 9:45. Front desk verified by paperwork. After over a 2 hour wait, they tell me I don’t have the correct paperwork. Nice job.

Wouldn’t even give this place a star. Drove to DMV on Saturday to find all DMVs don’t offer Saturdays. Came at 7am since appt not available until December, only to be turned away because didn’t have appointment and said best bet would be to come at 5am to be first person when doors open at 7am. This is the most backward DMV state I ever lived!!

No, they do the written tests. The skills test is done behind the Highways Division in the materials yard visible from the 74 bridge after you pass monroe hardware headed east bound. Or just past the fire department headed west bound.
No you don't need any appointment. Just walk in. I suggest you go there in the afternoons
Usually. They generally have 1 single person at the front to deal with everybody. You'd have better luck calling a main branch.
if you go to a ups school you can obtain it by contacting who ever is in charge then taking the course and eventually going to the dmv to obtain the permit
How do I renew my ID and will it cost to have a new one with the old one
They close at noon and last week started turning people away around 11:00 because they were so busy
Yes
Do they accept walk in?
No, this office is for driver licence. The License Plate Agency is at 622 W Roosevelt (east Monroe).
Yes it is best to make an appointment to ensure that you are able to be seen that day without the long line wait.
I recommend appointment so that you are not waiting all day. They take appointment scheduled people first. We did that back in October for the first level and early this month for 2nd level and we were in and out in less than an hour both times.
You need to call your local DMV office and tell them what you need to do and make an appointment.
Go to the DMV and get a new/reissued one.....
Yes!! You have to make an appointment.
It's best to make an appointment that way if they find anything else you need to fix before your appointment they will notify you. This saves from making 2 trips
They open at 9am
Your gonna haft to go back to the DMV
If you can get an appointment that accommodates you, definitely make one. I was in line twice, 1st for 2 1/2 hours only to get turned away when I was next. They are super busy and understaffed. The next day I was in line for 4 1/2 hours but I did get in and it was quick. However there is no guarantee that they will be able to get to you because appointments take priority. If you do go, go early and expect to be there for quite a while. Take a drink and snack also. I think we do need to consider that the staff is doing the best they can.
No ... you can do that on line
Renew but not a first time
Walk ins after 2 pm lately but appointment helps
Yes they do
You do not have to make an appointment but I would highly recommend it. Many people make appointments and so the line waiting is very long.
Monroe, NC
Yes, be sure to have an appointment
Yes
Yes all transactions are by appointment only right now.
Yes, you do. Bring 2 pieces of ID and proof of residence(bills il with your name on it). Also, bring your debit card.
Still need appts, unfortunately you have to make them 2 months out... those are the first available appts.
DMV appointment link.. https://skiptheline.ncdot.gov/Webapp/_/_/_/en/WizardAppt/Welcome
Birth certificate, proof of your address (I believe you need 2 of these).....I can't think of anything else but you can check on NCDMV.gov......you also need to make an appointment online
They require an appointment so even if they're open, it's a no go. Plus the rude attitude from the staff.
Yes you can do it online aswell
Yes ,then you drive
No you have to make an appointment.
Yes you do
I just moved here the 15th after September I am in Ms. Unpacking now. I need my license change from North Dakota 2 North Carolina and how I can vote. Thank you my name is James W Tillman.
I need to submit Dot Medical examination and change address to SC where do I go?
I believe so
Last I heard, it is by appointment only. You may be waiting a while to get an appointment, but if you get all the necessary paperwork together before your date, you will safe time and headache
Do I need an appt to get a duplicate license? My billfold was slolen with my license in it!
Yes you are.
They've always answered when I called. You can also call Raleigh, and they can answer your questions and schedule appointments.
You can call them directly and make the appointment. You may have to wait a week or two for an appointment though.
Right now this office is only accepting appointments, no walk-ins. Make your appointment on the dmv website, then you will wait in line outside the license office building until you are called inside. Road tests are slowly starting up again, see the dmv website to know which offices will be offering them, and schedule online. Every service at the drivers license office is offered by appointment only for now.
I am not 100% sure I would call
I don't think so, you need to go physically with documents
permit 20 dollars
Yes. Most major holidays
No. Once you are over 18 years old you can go straight to the DMV to take the written exam to get an adult permit or additionally take the driving exam to get a driver's license. Once over 18 years old you also do not need to log hours driving or any of the prerequisites for a minor except taking the exams.
yes you can.. monday thru saturday class c license at 8am
No
18 up...birth certificate, social security, proof of address in tht person name... when person is ready for a road test you must have proof of insurance.. 17 and under driver education certificate, eligibility cerificate, birth certicate social security card......all documents must be certify
UNLESS you are getting the REAL ID added to your license. You will then need more documentation. Go to the NC DMV site... there is a list of what you need to bring.
You are allowed to apply for a new ID/Driver's License up to 6 months (180 days) before your license is set to expire. You do not need an appointment.
No. The license plates are a separate division. In Monroe, that office is on Roosevelt Blvd closer to where, I think, Walkup Ave. crosses... You can look up that address and get specifics.
Oh, how stressful. Much of their response will depend upon them checking this Google site (which isn't a guarantee... this is maintained by Google, and business participation is optional). I HOPE they do. If they don't, I might also look to see what other numbers for the DMV might be listed... I know getting a live person is the goal. Leave messages, etc. Good luck, and I'm sorry.
Go to the NCDMV website. They have the associated costs for licenses and IDs listed there.
I'm not sure what current fees are, but they definitely have that listed on the NCDMV website.
Whats the question?blach pepper for green peppers
No... but you can make them. Dont try to go on Saturday or Friday.
You have to call the Monroe DMV office directly and get on their calendar. (It would be nice if you could send a request electronically, but this is a government office. 😒)
Hi, Kayla. That sounds like a question that you would need to ask the DMV directly (not people like me on Google Maps who are not employees and have no personal experience with that). I would HOPE they have your answer on the NCDMV website, but I would imagine you might be able to email the DMV and ask them directly. Good luck!
It will be just a walk in.
No. Just expect a long line. Suggest you try early morning...don't even bother going on Saturday.
You should check with www.ncdot.gov , the site will provide some info. Get the vehicle inspected, get your driver's licence, insurance docs that cover the NC requirements, and your out of state registration (money too - any form) then head to the NC licence plate agency of your choice. There you can find out if you need more. Try calling first, good luck.
They are open Monday - Saturday unless it is a holiday. I don't believe 19 Dec is a holiday.
If you go in the mornings anywhere from 7-11am, it's usually not that bad Monday-Thursday. Don't even try Saturday. Friday can get pretty busy as well.
None, do I need proof of address?
Before you can apply, you must have: Held your limited provisional driver's licensefor at least 6 months. Completed 12 hours of behind-the-wheel driving practice, including 6 hours at night. A clean driving record. Your parent or guardian. Apply for a North Carolina Teen Driver's License | DMV.ORG
You will have to contact them to obtain that information, though it may also be on the website. Good luck!
I would say that an appointment would be a really good idea for your mother, so I don't blame you for asking. You have to call the DMV office directly and speak to someone to schedule an appointment. From what I understand, appointments get taken pretty quickly, so I would suggest calling as soon as possible... It will be a matter of what dates and times are available, so you'll have to take what they have. Explain your mother's age... Worst case, they might suggest you come when you can and let them know you're there so they can bring you to the front of the line. Hope this helps! Dr. Chandler, I saw your follow-up question about the number. I don't know, but I went online a couple of months ago to do that very thing at another location and found the phone numbers on the NC DMV website. But... While in Monroe, I saw the appointment book on the front desk, and I also saw them usher an older woman in a wheelchair that did NOT have an appointment up to the front of the line. Good luck!
Highschoool students flood the DMV during the summer. I was told yesterday, now that school had started back, the wait was down to about 3 hours. The appointment lists are booked til the end of October.
Usually. They generally have 1 single person at the front to deal with everybody. You'd have better luck calling a main branch.
Wrong office. You need a plate agency. Just walk in and set it on the counter... or wait in line if you want a receipt.
Depends on permit
Yes
If you have a regular drivers license you can do it online.
