Yes it's fine but not all areas will be accessible. Part of the good stuff is behind a sloped lawn and /or narrow paths. The cafeteria is down a paved but steep road.

I didn't notice any bothersome insects at Wave Hill Gardens.

Take the #1 IRT to 231st street and transfer to the BX 7 or BX 10 to 252nd street. Then walk about 3 blocks west to the entrance. You can also go to Grand Central and take Metro North to Riverdale. Wave Hill in the past had a pickup bus from that station, but verify that it's still available.

You could try street parking. There aren't any other garages or lots close to wave hill.

Please check the venue/private events on the Wave Hill website. Wave Hill is so beautiful.

Beside the beautiful surroundings, trails ,garden, museum, there are free tours with guides who can answer all the questions... there are also some fun kids/family activities ( you may check their calendar for that)

It's better if you sign up for the whole year this way you can park there and not worry about paying for entrance any more. Plus you get friend passes

Public garden=you can make photography at your leisure as long as you don't brake property and follow rules

Free on Saturday mornings (and they have free kids activities). Free shuttle from the 1 train. Free parking down the hill with a shuttle to the entrance. Great food! Sunset Wednesdays during the summer are magical
