Wow - that guy Turner is everywhere, isn't he? I seem to see Turner paintings everywhere I go, and they never disappoint. Aside from the fiery, ethereal depictions of stormy seas and calm harbors painted by Turner, you will find an astounding collection of British portraiture here, especially from the 18th century. The zenith of the British Academical school, combining classical techniques with a lightly airy and even Rococo sensibility, can be found here. There's also more modern art here, which isn't really my thing, but I respect the creativity. The museum itself is elegant and spacious. I highly recommend coming here.

A must-see architectural masterpiece.

OK overall. We were followed by security the entire time we were there, it was very uncomfortable.

It's a few blocks from the Broadway District (Yale Bookstore) to the museum on Chapel Street. It's a nice walk through a part of Yale campus.
Dear Neil, Thank you for reaching out to us. After conferring with colleagues, we don't have an object on display that depicts the four virtues, but do have a few paintings from the Philippe Mercier "Sense" series. Might the object that you are inquiring about be one of the following two paintings? The Sense of Hearing: https://collections.britishart.yale.edu/vufind/Record/1669217 The Sense of Touch: https://collections.britishart.yale.edu/vufind/Record/1666746 Very best, Yale Center for British Art

Hi Tom--The museum will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, and reopen on Friday, November 23, at 10 am.
I don't know any reason it wouldn't be as it's generally open on Saturdays.
They opened in the late 70s. The building was designed by Louis Kahn in the early 70s. You can look all this up in Wikipedia.
