Absolute garbage of a hospital. Was diagnosed with a chronic disease a couple months ago, communication between the doctors is absolutely absent. The nurses act like you work for them and are extremely rude over the phone like they’re the ones that are sick. They’ve sent multiple prescriptions to the wrong location which is insane because how do you not make sure you’re sending it to the right place. Extremely lazy and negligent work from Yale. The name brings people but the staff and the medical professionals there are too busy for their own good. You can’t have multiple people with such different chronic diseases and not give the patients the care and the time they deserve. You wait 3 hours being brought from waiting room to waiting room for the doctor to see you for 5 minutes and not even listen to what is wrong with you. They already have their game plan and if it’s anything different than what they want they’re not going to listen. Sad a place with such potential is wasted with people who aren’t empathetic. Like why did you get a job in healthcare if you’re going to have an attitude with people because they’re sick. They obviously didn’t choose that lifestyle or dealing with your stuck up people. Bottom line absolute trash.

20 doctors and nurses and students ask the same questions, take a million photos. Then you wait in an uncomfortable chair for 7 hours for them to send you home empty handed

My family had a wonderful experience with Yale Health. Worlds better than any other insurance/care we've had in the past, or likely will have in the future. Friendly, responsive, knowledgeable, and almost always free of charge. Amazing.

As a new member (less than six months), I have been nothing but disappointed and horrified at how little Yale Health cares for patients. My communications with them have all circled back to metrics, practices designed for their comfort not the patients', and an obsession with health information systems. You have no/limited ability to choose your own physician(s). When pressed to make a change you are told by the new member rep that doing so "would be an administrative hassle" (I have this response in writing) and are subjected to a litany of complaints about how short-handed they are. (Not reassuring when you are seeking medical care.) When they do hire, they hire the least experienced practitioners they can find despite the fact that an older employee base prefers a more mature medical professional. At the time of enrollment, you are assured that making changes is very easy. With other departments, you are given information only based on who answers the phone, e.g., in April I called Opthamology/Optometry for an app't and was told the earliest I could get was mid-November. I called again the other day to find out options, got an app't for early October but advised that they could give a voucher for another facility so that insurance would cover the visit if I wanted/needed something sooner. I had another two hour phone conversation today with their outsourced/self-service behavioral health program who were very helpful but the Yale Health colleagues they called or additional assistance had no interest in helping to solve issues.
