The shopping center has great store and restaurants, and is generally a joy to visit. However, the paid parking is a pain (how about just using ParkMobile or any other parking app that people have actually heard of?) and there's poor connectivity to nearby neighborhoods. There needs to be better pedestrian infrastructure across Old Dominion, Reston Parkway, and even FFX County Parkway.

Wonderful area to walk and explore. Very nice restaurants. Lots of shops. Dog park available and extremely well landscaped. Construction going on, so some areas were not available. Easy access trip and friendly people

Reston Town Center has many establishments, ranging from restaurants to clothing stores to movies theaters and other entertainment.
No Santa usually hangs out there in late November December. He’s usually gone in March. That being said if you do find him I don’t know if I’d let my kid near him.

You don't have to make appointments. If you don't have access, may I suggest you call the store so they can advise their operating procedures. I've never had an issue there.

Yes, it should be open on January 1st. The ice skating rink is open from November 8th until March 15th this year. On January first, the rink will be open from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm.
There is a holiday parade every year at the Reston Town Center. It usually occurs during late November. The Reston Community Center sponsors the event and you can find information about it on the community center website.
