I don’t typically leave reviews, but I came here when having a crisis with my dog on two occasions when our usual vet was closed and they always were nothing but kind. While prices here are higher than some other places, I would trust the vets with my pets lives. My dog had an episode with IVDD and Dr. Smagala was there for me and my dog every step of the way. She helped us figure out the proper medications and was patient and accommodating with my concerns every step of the way. She even checked in on us after some rough patches when my dog was in pain to see how she was doing. Im writing this a year later because I truly appreciated her help, and my best friend is doing great today 1 year later thanks to her ! If you are panicked and looking for somewhere to go for an emergency, you can trust that they truly do want to help your pet here.

Overpriced for terrible service. PLEASE read the reviews before coming here. The vibe of this place is so dark. I first decided to take my cat to old Marple VCA because I could use my healthy start certificate for a complimentary health exam after rescuing my cat from the SPCA. When I brought my cat here for his health exam I was told he was fine and everything looked great… A few days later, I took him to the SPCA because his eyes were watering. He had an upper respiratory infection when I rescued him and the infection never went away. I did not think much of this, I thought maybe the vet at old Marple VCA did not see any symptoms of his respiratory infection when I took him for his health exam. About 2 months later, my cat was straining to use the litter box and in obvious discomfort. I took my cat to old Marple as it was an emergency and this vet is open 24/7. I got him “unblocked” and took him home. Not even 24 hours later, I had to bring him back because the symptoms he was having never went away. I brought him back to the vet less the 24 hours and was told he would need another catheter and need to be hospitalized for 24 hours, this would be another hefty bill. While discussing my options with the vet, She said THREE times, “I have had to put cats down many of times due to urinary obstruction.” “If finances are a concern that is always an option.”My cat is 1 year and 2 months. Why is this even ethically okay to put an otherwise healthy young cat down for a treatable issue because of finances. My cat was unblocked and stayed at the vet old Marple 24 hours. He blocked again within 2 days. At this point I had so much anxiety because the vet mentioned euthanasia. I called old Marple VCA and explained what was going on. I was told to bring my cat back. I NEVER WENT BACK. I took a risk and waited a few more hours for other animal hospitals to open and called around until I found a new vet and read reviews. When I visited the new vet, My cat had PU surgery which I was told by old Marple could not be done at the time because they “suspected” he had a urinary track infection. This was suspected without any testing even though only a small percentage of cats who are blocked also have UTI. It’s such a shame because this situation is an emergency situation and time may not permit to do research. If you can do your research do it before trusting any vet with you pets health needs. I had to go back to old Marple to get prescription cat food on 8/4/22. When I walked in, the woman at the front desk did not acknowledge me at all. She looked at me and continued to answer phone calls. There was an emergency that came in while I was waiting to be helped however I was still not even acknowledged. I waited and then sat down when I realized It may be sometime before I am helped. Another woman came in right behind me. When I sat down the woman at the desk looked at the other woman and said, “can I help you?” The other woman then stated, “she was here before me.” And directed the woman at the desks attention towards me. Unprofessional and anxiety provoking in a place that is already high stress for most individuals going there. Just do your research if you can. This is my experience and I hope no one ever has the same experience as me!

OVER PRICED & TERRIBLE DIAGNOSIS - brought my dog in with a open wound on his back paw, along with some red/brown color between his toes which looked like maybe from allergies/yeast/bacteria. This vet ONLY looked at the one paw I mentioned, which I still today am not sure why they didn't look to see how the other ones looked compared to the one he was brought in for. All they could tell me was the same couple things I mentioned at the beginning of the visit; maybe allergies, maybe a pine needle, hot pavement, etc. So they not only gave me my own ideas on my discharge paperwork but they told me to soak my dogs paw 3x's daily in Epson salt. $265.00 later.... Ok, so after I thought about it, I realized no one took a sample of between his paws to check for a yeasts infection or bacteria. When I called 5 days later and said that NOTHING HAD CLEARED UP and why wasn't a sample taken that day, or an antibiotic given. I was told that my dog was assessed as best as they could for what he was brought in for and I could bring him back in for a small reassessment fee! NEVER AGAIN! NOT EVEN IF HE WAS DYING I was able to get my dog in his regular vet the following Friday. where a sample was taken from his paw, and he was provided a antibiotic like he should have been from the start. this vet has no clue what they are doing with animals, but they are good at ripping off clients. Thanks for nothing.

Is this place a no kill facility? We brought a severely hurt cat here and was wondering if he would be euthanized or healed.

They will euthanize if you agree that your loved one is in a dire health situation. My dog was hit by a car and was in really bad shape. They really care and stayed with me and my dog the whole time.
