I was very disappointed today as I observed a serious accident in Sykesville and Freedom fire department responded . There were several people taken away in an ambulance and one had to fly to shock trauma . It was very displeasing to see all of the fire fighter 6-7 of them joking and laughing on the side of the road like it was a family reunion …there was laughing and joking going on like you were at. A party .. all of this while the patient is getting stabilized to travel by helicopter . Children and Adults waited on the side of the road and some of them knew this person and we had no idea if they would live or die . Have some compassion EMT of Freedom Sykesville and show empathy in a serious Life threatening situation . Leave your joking around for the fire department when you are not on a call . The community expects your professionalism and focus when an emergency is going on ! As I sit here looking at the donation envelope that just came in the mail , I’m shaking my head and throwing it away . I did try to call the office this evening but of course there was no answer .
