I have been attending the 10am workout class at Rock boxing gym for about two months now. Everyone is very friendly and encouraging. The workouts can get tough but I love how coach Danny and other classmates push each other to be better and not give up. In the short two months I have seen such a difference in my strength and body transformation.

My first experience with RBG was 5 years ago when I decided to try my hand at amateur boxing. Honestly, I randomly selected RBG but it was the best decision I could have made. To make a long story short, I weighed in at 190 pounds the first day and after a 2 month training camp I weighed in at a solid 150 pounds. The regime that I was put through was impressive. Daily workouts Monday through Friday which eventually culminated in sparring in preparation to fight (along with a very strict diet as directed by coach). As I look back at it, coach Danny had it all very carefully planned out which in a sport like boxing gives me so much respect for him. As I trained over the course of those months, I observed that this was not only a gym but a cornerstone of the community, particularly when it comes to working with the youth. This gave me a sense of comfort and satisfaction knowing that I was actually involved in something that was greater than myself. All in all, it was a transformational experience and I will never forget it. As things turned out my wife pumped the breaks on any hope of advancing into the amateur ranks (I keep forgetting that I am over 50 years old now, heheheheh) which was my dream at the time and I simply stepped away from the scene altogether. Fast forward 5 years and I still felt that itch for the intensity of the workouts and attempted to recreate them at local gyms and working out on my own. Consequently, one of my students at CSUMB (where I teach) had trained at RBG and I took that as a good omen and started stopping by once in a while for boxing events and in doing so discovered that RBG had begun 4:30am conditioning classes and I decided to get back in the groove. Although I am not boxing, I have discovered that, hands down, it is one of the best and safest workouts I have ever experienced (especially being over 50 I have not had 1 injury since starting up again) which is a lot more that you can say for other physical activities. Since starting back up again, I feel really good and count my blessings for having discovered such a gem of an institution. If you are serious and committed about your health and state of mind, I can recommend no better establishment. Both coach Fish and Danny are the consummate professionals and will support you in realizing your fitness goals and I wholeheartedly recommend them!
