I just dropped my dog off to have her teeth cleaned. This is the best vet clinic that I have taken her to. My favorite vet is Dr Meussel but all the Vets there are great.

At Animal Care Clinic in San Luis Obispo, CA. Is one of the best clinic. The Vet. Doctors and the entire Staff does their best to care for our pets. My dog Candie Cane is very well cared for. Her needs and comfort and love given. The people who work here are part of the family. Also, good folks out there in public loves our Candie Cane my beloved poodle. I am very happy with this clinic that I can trust her in their care when I need help right -a- way. ✌️♥️🤗

Questions & Answers

what is your charge for euthanize for a cat

Pamela - I am so sorry to hear you are in need of euthanasia. If we have not met you or your cat we would need to perform an exam/consult first and that is $72. If we agree that euthanasia is the best option, that is $180. The body will need to be managed afterwards and fees for that range from $60 to $145. I hope that helps.

Do you perform mri’s on dogs?

No Corrine, we do not. Depending on the problem, MR’s are best done with the neurologist, surgeon or internist assisting your regular DVM. That means leaving SLO county.

What is your recommendation regarding rattlesnake vaccine? We just found a small rattlesnake near our front porch, and Jake is incorrigible as far as preying on such critters. Thank you.

Most of our dog owners who live near rattlesnakes do use the vaccine. The vaccine is not 100% effective against the venom, but it can increase the likelihood of survival should there be a bite. Even if vaccinated, a bite is an emergency and requires immediate transfer to a veterinarian. Antivenin is very expensive, so the vaccine may end up saving a life and a lot of money! Jake is a big dog, but any bite could be serious. Smaller snakes are actually more dangerous if small means young! The vaccine is initially given as 2 doses, 30 days apart and then a booster annually. If you want to pursue the vaccines, give us a call. Jake is up to date on his exam, so we can set you up with a member of the veterinary nursing team for the vaccines!
